What to do when your entryway opens to a powder room door? You disguise the door, of course.🪄

Hidden doors have certainly been having a moment for several years, and deservingly so.

There’s magic in hiding a necessary yet visually distracting element within the architecture itself.

In this entryway, a slat door reads as one continuous wall until it opens to reveal a powder room wrapped in moody botanical wallpaper, visually spilling past the threshold.

Small intentional details help deliver big impact.

Our Sunbathing primary bath project is the spotlight image in ASID Washington Metro’s ad for the September issue of Modern Luxury Interiors. We’re thrilled and grateful, to say the least.

Now here’s the real and raw because it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t say the most.

I entered this primary bathroom project in more design awards than I’d like to admit. It didn’t win a single one. Some of those losses stung more than others. Fast forward and now it’s the image ASID Washington Metro chose to spotlight in the very magazine that had more than once told me “no”.

I don’t think that’s irony. I think it’s just how this industry actually works. A panel’s “no” was never a verdict on the room, and a magazine feature isn’t one either. Both are just moments. The work was always good, it just took the right person, the right circumstances, and being in the right rooms to align at once.

I live by the motto that “nothing is for nothing”and “no” is often times a delayed “yes”.

Ending the week with immense gratitude after spending 3 unforgettable days in New Orleans at the NKBA W2W conference. 🎷🖤

NKBA W2W (Women 2 Women) is an annual leadership gathering that brings together 100 influential women from across the kitchen and bath industry, thoughtfully selected through a curated application process.

I was one of the 100 women selected to attend this year, surrounded by leaders and executives who are shaping this industry from the top down. Keynotes, real conversations, and rooms full of women who have walked the exact path I’m on — it was inspiring in a way that’s hard to put into words.

A few moments I’ll carry with me: dinner at the historic Arnaud’s, dancing through the French Quarter streets in a second line parade escorted by NOLA PD, and the connections made with amazing women. The late nights, the shared struggles, the wins we celebrated together.

I came home not just inspired, but empowered! Ready to keep building with even more intention, and grateful for every woman in that room who reminded me what’s possible when you keep going.

A heartfelt thank you to NKBA for choosing me and for creating a platform that lifts up women like me.

This graduation season hit different. 🎓

Watching my former intern walk across the stage at WVU wasn’t just proud-mentor energy, it was a full circle moment.

I’ve always wanted to be the person I needed growing up — someone who looked like me showing up and believing in me when I didn’t know how to believe in myself.

What I didn’t expect is how much I’d grow in the process of mentoring.

Mentorship isn’t about creating a replica of yourself. It’s staying present for someone’s journey, wherever it leads.

As an adult, I’ve had plenty of mentors that I’m beyond grateful for. I can’t rewrite time, but it’s hard not to wonder what I could’ve accomplished if I had the support I needed earlier.

If you had a mentor in your life growing up, consider yourself lucky. And if you didn’t? Make a choice to be that person for someone else.

POV: No electricity. No problem.

We’re nearing the end of construction on one of our new build projects and I couldn’t wait to see the installed sconces illuminated against the tile — so I used AI to turn the lights on.💡

Before final photography, AI-generated previews help us to plan my angles, identify the money shots, and walk in on shoot day already knowing what shots we want to capture. It cuts hours off an already arduous day.

This is what practical AI use looks like in a design business— not replacing your eye (because AI could never), just giving it a head start and simplifying task to save time.

A few things I love about this space:
→ Wall sconces flanking the window (yes, they’re wet rated and shower-approved)
→ Arabesque tile on the tub wall
→ full height glass panel draws attention to the 10’ ceilings
