+++ A TIME TO SIP +++
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
National Cocktail Day feels like the right moment to talk about the bar. 🍸
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A great bar isn’t just functional, it’s a mood. A few things that make it work: a dramatic stone or tile backdrop, warm wood cabinetry to keep it grounded, or painted to make it pop, glass shelving so the bottles become part of the display, and one metallic finish to pull it all together. Consider mixing metals to add some depth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The goal is a space that feels considered without feeling untouchable. Because the perfect cocktail deserves an equally good setting.

+++ HAPPY MOTHERS DAY +++
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Motherhood has a way of reshaping how we see the world, and for me, how I design within it.
I’m a mom of three: two older boys and one little girl, who feels like the universe’s way of sending me a mini version of myself. They have made me a better designer, but more than that, they’ve made me think differently about what a home is really for. Not just beautiful, but lived in. Layered.
Built for the chaos and the quiet and everything in between.
The most meaningful spaces hold stories. Where routines become rituals, where memories are made without trying, where love shows up in the details.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today we celebrate all the women who mother, not just by biology or blood, but by presence. The nannies who become family. The friends who show up without being asked. The aunties who quietly fill every gap. The mentors who believed in you before you believed in yourself. The neighbors, the chosen family, the women who loved you into who you are.
Motherhood is so much bigger than one definition. Happy Mother’s Day to all of you. 🤍

+++ COLOR STORY +++
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Color is one of the most powerful tools in a space, and one of the most underused. It’s what takes a room from beautiful to felt. The right shade can make a space feel warmer, more grounded, more alive. It can shift a mood, define a moment, or tie an entire home together in a way that no piece of furniture ever could.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When clients are hesitant about color, I always say: start with one room, one wall, one chair. Let yourself be surprised.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In this post, the star is green. From a deep moody kitchen to a powder room wrapped in botanical wallpaper, to dining chairs playing off an unexpected green pop in a painting — every space is different, but the color does the same thing in all of them. It settles in. It grounds. It makes the room feel like it was always meant to look that way.

+++ AN ARTFUL SPACE +++
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Art isn’t an afterthought. It’s the heartbeat of a space.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When we design, every piece is chosen with intention: to anchor the room, to spark emotion, to tell a story that feels deeply personal. Scale, color, subject, and placement all work together to create rhythm and balance, and are never random; they are always considered.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A layered art moment can energize a room, soften architecture, or create a focal point that draws you in and keeps you there. It’s not about filling walls, it’s about curating meaning and telling a story.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The most compelling interiors are the ones that feel collected, not decorated. 🤍 Also, it’s May fourth and if you look closely you can find Darth Vader painted by

+++ ARTIST OF THE MONTH +++

There’s an immediacy to work that you feel right away. Color leads first, guided more by instinct than intention, with composition following through movement, tension, and moments of pause. Nothing feels overresolved, which is exactly what gives it life.

In a space, it holds a quiet sense of presence. The kind of work that doesn’t fade into the background, but subtly shifts the energy of a room, whether the setting is minimal or more
layered and collected.

For this month’s Artist of the Month, we asked local Charlestonian Demetrius about process, layering, and how personal experience can take on a more universal meaning. It’s a thoughtful conversation, and super emotive.

The full interview will be shared in our newsletter this Monday, May 5th. Sign up in the link in bio

+++ MOVIE NIGHT ELEVATED +++

A media room that takes the job seriously, without losing sight of the fact that it should also be the most comfortable room in the house.
The brief was simple: mid-century soul, zero compromise on the experience. The TV wall is fully wood paneled, and the two corner walls open to panoramic garden views are framed in custom dark velvet drapes that run wall to wall. Pull them and the room transforms: instant cinema, with the kind of sound that actually lands.
The sofa was chosen for a reason, there is no bad seat. Two corner lounges and a soft upholstered ottoman in the center mean everyone gets the best spot. The Daiki Chair and Ottoman by Architektura brings that perfect note of sculptural calm, and the ceiling fixture is by , because the details matter even when the lights go down.
Who doesn’t want a movie night here.

+++ BENCH WITH A VIEW +++

Designed to feel inevitable, like the house was always waiting for it to exist.

This window bench was built into a frame that already had the best job in the room: looking out over the water. Our role was simply to make sure the seat was worthy of the view. Mohair pillows in Teddy anchor the bench, impossibly soft, perfectly named, and two center pillows we had made from fabric we found and absolutely could not walk away from. The mix of textures does what good layering always should: feels collected, not curated.

A spot to sit and stay a while. The water takes care of the rest.

+++ BLACK & WHITE +++

Black and white, but never basic. In this project, the floor does the talking, an art deco pattern tile in crisp black and white that sets the rhythm for two very different rooms. The powder room leans all the way in, wrapped in black from top to bottom: moody, and quiet. The main bath pulls the opposite direction, bright, airy, softened by a warm oak vanity that grounds the whole space.
And then, the jewelry. Because that’s what light should be. A sculptural pendant by hangs just beside the tub. At the vanity, a pair of sconces flank the mirror, quiet, beautifully made, full of presence.

+++ A CORNER REIMAGINED +++

Good design meets the house where it is. This project came with a structural quirk: the staircase to the second floor created a deep bump-out in the corner of the primary bath and bedroom. Most would have closed it off and lived with the dead space. We did the opposite. We built around it.
A custom bench now hugs the bump-out on the bath side, then continues through the wall and becomes a dresser in the bedroom. One uninterrupted line of millwork; one awkward soffit reimagined as the defining gesture of the room.
The wallpaper is a graphic, hand-painted pattern by , bold but never loud. It gives the space its heartbeat.
Chic, personal, and warm. Everything a home should be.
