A pretty light. A really good faucet. The perfect tile. A little pattern. A place to sit outside at the end of the day.

All the little things that make a house feel like home.

And yes, I notice every single one of them.

Maybe this is the only way I like drama.

Deep color. Great lighting. A little contrast. Layers that make a room feel interesting.

I’m usually drawn to spaces that feel calm and collected, but every now and then, a room calls for a moodier moment.

And this kind of drama? I’m all in. 🖤

This is the part where we get to have some fun.

After a full remodel with Maverick Construction, all the big decisions have been made. The kitchen, baths, tile, lighting, finishes, furnishings…every selection considered as part of the whole home.

Then comes one of my favorite parts: bringing it all together.

Furniture in. Art hung. Accessories layered. Pillows fluffed. A little moving, tweaking and playing until everything feels just right.

Because a finished home isn’t just about making all the selections.

It’s about seeing it all the way through.

Calm, considered and complete.

The One With the King Bed

Because guest rooms don’t have to feel like an afterthought.

A king bed, layers of pattern, a little bit of boho, a little bit of Lowcountry, and plenty of personality.

This room is part of the Boho Breeze guest house, but we wanted every space to feel just as considered as the main house. Comfortable enough to settle in, special enough to feel like you’re on vacation.

And yes, I would happily be a guest here.

Rooted in comfort, elevated in style.

Anna Maria Island. A repeat client. A project completed mostly from miles away.

This home feels like them because that was always the goal. Relaxed, personal, collected and made for the way they actually live when they’re here.

There’s a lot of trust that goes into designing a home remotely. And when you already know your clients, how they live and what makes them happy, there’s also a lot of fun.

Trust each other. Have some fun. Make decisions. Get it done. And see the whole home all the way through.

Turns out, I’ll travel for the right client. 🤍

Allow me to reintroduce myself…

I’m Nicki, founder + lead designer of Embellish Interiors.

A few things about me, in no particular order:

I started Embellish 14 years ago. Before interiors, I was a teacher and even owned a preschool. Turns out managing a room full of first graders was pretty good training for managing construction projects.

I’m a coffee person. A dog person. A people person. And apparently, a person who gets very excited about a really good light fixture.

I have two grown boys, three Australian Labradoodles, and I’m currently figuring out this whole empty-nester-ish chapter of life.

I believe your home should feel like you, not like your designer.

I don’t really have a “signature look.” I’d much rather get to know how you live, what you love, what matters to you, and create a home around that.

And funny enough, a lot of my clients knew me before they knew what I did. We were neighbors, friends, friends of friends, or maybe we met across the net at pickleball.

That part matters to me.

Because after all these years, I still believe the relationships we build are just as important as the homes we design.
