“Not all men”

Men, if you truly believe this, then the Cornell 7 should enrage you too. We need to hear your voice and see your action in making sure this never happens again. You see, it starts with one guy degrading a girl or woman and no one saying anything. This behavior opens the door to more boys/men doing the same. It creates a culture and one that rarely sees any consequence even when the girl/woman speaks up. It happens everywhere. And, it eventually morphs into the Cornell 7 & the Epstein files to name only two horrendous acts that are in a sea of many.

So, if you truly believe, “not all men” then men, start teaching the boys in your life to stand up. To stop the joke in the locker room at someone else’s expense. To expose them to emotional maturity & what that looks like not only in their life but yours as well - a therapist is a wonderful addition to help with this. To understand that “no means NO”. To talk with other women to understand what it’s like to live a day in our shoes when it comes to our safety, personal space & experience with other men.

We women are unbelievably tired of having to fight this battle and be re-victimized when we speak up. So men, if you truly want us to believe “not all men” then it’s beyond time to show up.

I’ve been trying to make sense of a lot lately. The loss of loved ones, people I never met but feel their heartbreak in my soul, the callous behavior of some & the loss of caring for one another on a human level no matter our background. We are all rushing through life & I can’t help but ask - for what? We will all end up the same way. So the question that keeps coming into my brain is how are we living each day?

I recently heard someone say our life is full of prayers & scares. Prayers for hope, healing, peace, love, happiness - & scares that require prayers for each one. I don’t have the definitive answer that would be the lightbulb moment for everyone. But, I do know what we are given for the time we are on this Earth is a gift. We all tend to forget this but if you can take a moment & pull yourself out of the craziness we call life to really think about how you want to embrace this gift, maybe just maybe, our hearts will soften towards each other. Our dreams will become a daily goal & not something we put off until tomorrow. And, we will be the best humans we can possibly be more times than less because the gift does have a return policy and an expiration date.
