Fiber Art Field Trip 🚌

Recently visited socogallery to witness the greatness that is Katarina Sanchez’s (fiberess) recent art installation, Soft Grids.

It felt cozy… it felt… aligned… it felt inspirational, really. Maybe I’ll be inspired to pick up some sticks and knit something soon?

The books they carry at this gallery/bookstore were also eye catching. Our laceworkers and quilters may enjoy the ones I snapped photos of.

Sanchez’s work is on view until May 28th, so stop by soon.

Part 2 of the printed sewing patterns!

But before I start… where are our Smocking Stashers??? Easter just passed, and I just know y’all didn’t let those grand babies go outside in a T.J. Maxx or J. Crew outfit! (That’s not shade because my nieces do just fine in their Marshalls special). Okay, let me focus.

slide 1: willow dress by
- oh I know I shouldn’t have favorites… but this was mine. I think our Poplin fabrics would suit that cinched waist perfectly.

slide 2: the Alma dress by
-this seems to be one of those designers that get the current cool girl trends JUST right.

slide 3: the Pleat Top by
- *deep, deep sigh*, I say this very often (and several of y’all agree with me)… the European designers are doing GREAT things. A good top is hard to find, but this one is perfect.

slide 4: the Penny Pants by
- our soft Dobby Cottons (not to be confused with our sturdier Dobbys)!! I’ve got yardage left in black, wine, dark moss, and tan.

slide 5: the Snow Top by
- that casual looks that would perfect with a woven gingham fabric (I’ve heard your cries and we’re working on it). In the meantime, anything we just brought in from fableism would work great for this.

slide 6: Shoreline Shift by
- another designer I have to avoid because I’ll just add more to my too list (jk, go check this designer out. There’re a lot of cute patterns!)

Every Sunday… somewhere in the world… there’s a crafter tucked in the bed… scrolling on their phone… searching for new patterns.

How do I know? The pattern printing orders come ROLLING in after 10 pm Sunday night! Then I spend Monday afternoon trying not to get them mixed up 😂

Alrighty. Our sewists were busy last week (I’m gonna assume the sun and heat gave you a creative boost).

Here are some of the patterns we’ve printed recently! This is gonna be a two part-er because there were that many!

slide 2: The Rosery Short by .
- I was so into this style a few summers ago… I may have to bring this back in one of our lawn cottons!

slide 3: The Lane Pants by hisydgraham .
- I printed this one twice last week and countless times before… if five more people send an order in… I’m gonna make a pair! … and force everyone at craft night to do them too.)
- I’m thinking our Linen-Rayon blend, Brussels Washer, for these? Nice drape and weight, beautiful bright colors to amplify a simple outfit.

- our Lightweight Twill in the camel!! Or maybe the pale green? Perfect for a workwear vibe

- First time hearing of this designer and everything on the site is beautiful! There are also quilting and knitting patterns!

Alicia’s Knit Knacks ✨🧶
Happy Monday!

First pattern up for our consideration is a new-to-me designer, Julia Piro. Listen, my loves, you MUST hop over to see her beautiful patterns on Ravelry! She designs beginner sweater patterns complete with videos! These are patterns that do not look like beginners but have texture & details not usually part of a basic pullover. Look at the Mellow Mood Top. This is a basic seamless all- season sweater complete with side design elements.

I can see this in our Kelbourne Scout yarn (ooohhh, the stitch definition!) & also our Blue Sky cotton!

• April Tee by Suvi Knits.
I’m very excited about textures in knits, especially in summer pullovers. I can see this knit in a variety of our yarns: Juniper Moon’s Zooey first comes to mind with its linen & cotton blend.

• Summer Camp Kerchief by Ashley R. Adams
Next up is a pattern I knit last year & found on my needles again this week . The Summer Camp Kerchief is a delight to wear & knit! There are 3 sizes & the pattern is easy enough for a beginner knitter while being engaging enough for an experienced one, too. Many thanks to Laura Cool for sharing this find with me!! Last year I knit in Zooey as a store sample. This time I used Noro’s Sonata Shima. I would use ANY yarn in our shop to knit this cute scarf, depending on the season. It’s that versatile!

I have a Summer Camp Kerchief available to view at Stash, and here’s the new one in beautiful colors. Pay attention to the bottom; that’s a twisted rib. I loved it so much I repeated the stitch! 😂
