This is honestly one of my favorite parts of the interior design process: helping clients curate a home that feels collected, lived in, and reflective of them… not just “decorated.”

There is a difference between designing for the moment and designing for the future.

Trends are fun. I lean into them too. The trick is knowing where they belong.

A trend in your throw pillows? Easy. Swap them next spring.

A trend in your permanent tile, your cabinetry, your countertops? That one gets expensive.

The bones of a home should hold up for decades. The layers on top are where the moment lives.

Design for the future first. Then have fun with the now.

Shelves are funny because somehow they can either make a room feel effortlessly finished… or like a very expensive storage problem.

This is your reminder that styling isn’t about filling every inch. It’s about balance, texture, personality, and a little bit of editing. (Which usually means me moving the same object around 14 times until it “feels right.”)

One of the biggest renovation mistakes I see? Bringing design in too late.

In this month’s blog, I’m sharing why early collaboration between the designer, builder, and architect matters so much, plus the costly “we’ll figure it out later” mistake that happens more often than you’d think.

If you’re planning a renovation or new build, this is one of those reads that can protect your investment, save you time, and a whole lot of second-guessing.

A few days in Connecticut with a group of incredibly talented designers at The Designer’s Lounge Retreat by Meredith Huck of House of Huck somehow felt equal parts business strategy, creative reset, and adult summer camp. Think: meaningful conversations, shared dinners, an ice cream bar, and the kind of inspiration that follows you home long after the flight back.

Also confirmed: designers truly cannot stop talking shop… even over dessert.

Very grateful for the conversations, connections, and time to step away from the day-to-day for a minute.

You hire us. We do the work. Then one day, this shows up at your door.

The final presentation is the payoff … trays, fabrics, textures, printouts, all laid out so you can see and feel the full picture.

Getting here requires trust. It means letting us push you past what feels safe. The colors that made you nervous. The pattern you almost said no to. That is where the good work lives.

And once you say yes? We order everything. We receive everything. We handle every detail.

You just get to enjoy the result.
If you are a busy person who wants a beautiful home without carrying it yourself, this is what we built DFI to do.
