The mix of old and new creates a space that looks collected versus designed.”

The custom Roman shades were a true team effort — the client polled her Instagram followers on fabrics, and this botanical print won by a landslide. It adds just enough pattern to soften the whole space without stealing the show.

Swipe to see my favorite detail: the ginkgo leaf pulls. Tiny, sculptural, and such a quiet-luxury moment for a hardworking mudroom butler’s pantry.

It’s always the layers — the textures, the finishes, the thoughtful little choices — that make a space feel intentional.

Which detail caught your eye first — the shades, the hardware, or the warm stone countertop?👇

When a room finally comes together, it’s rarely about one big statement — it’s the layers.
Here, we played with a formula we rely on often:
rich wall color + pattern-filled pillows + warm metals + a grounded, old-world rug.

Keeping everything in a shared palette lets the patterns harmonize instead of compete (my favorite kind of magic).
Swipe to see the fabrics that inspired the whole space — they’re even better up close.

So tell me…
Which detail would you bring into your own home:
the green walls, the artwork, the patterned pillows, or those sculptural brass tables?”

Here’s a little formula I use when I want a room to feel pulled together without feeling fussy:
rich wall color + patterned pillows + warm metals + a grounded, old-world rug.

This room is an example of how mixing patterns works when everything shares a similar palette — nothing competes, everything sings.

What part of this space would you steal for your own home? The green walls, the art, the pillows, or the brass?”

Okay, let’s just take a moment with this space 🤩. The whole room is light and airy, but those fun striped swivel chairs totally steal the show—they bring in just the right hit of pattern and personality without feeling loud. And can we talk about that fabulous chandelier floating up in the vaulted ceiling? It’s like a modern piece of jewelry for the room, drawing your eye up and making everything feel extra luxe and intentional.

Want to know the secret to a home that really feels personal? Start with the art. 🎨

A home just isn’t complete without it — it’s truly the soul of a space. When we began this project, our clients had just moved here to Chattanooga with a beautiful art collection. Since then, they’ve continued adding to it — finding new pieces from local Chattanooga galleries, as well as during travels to LA and Atlanta.

One of our favorites, Robert Kent Gallery from Georgia, even brought artwork straight to the home so we could see how each piece felt in the space (and of course, there were a few surprises!).

We had so much fun layering in color, emotion, and story through art — and by Christmas, every detail will come together to make this home feel collected, cozy, and uniquely theirs. ❤️

Well, it’s November 10th here in the Nooga — yesterday we were running the air conditioning, and today we woke up to snow flurries. Tennessee weather keeps us on our toes. ❄️☀️

Thankfully, this client’s dining room feels cozy no matter what’s happening outside. The rich green velvet, the warmth of the wood, and that bold black-and-gold chandelier — it’s the kind of mix that makes a room feel layered, lived-in, and a little unexpected (in the best way).

It’s the kind of room that makes dinner parties last longer and snow days feel like a treat.
Save this for your dining room moodboard — or tag someone who’d love a cozy-meets-classic moment.

It’s been a minute, friends — between Halloween activities (why does it now last two full weeks??) and kid chaos, I’ve been a little quiet over here. 🎃👻

But before we fully tumble into Thanksgiving mode, I wanted to share this little pretty moment — the loveliest wallpaper in a tiny powder room. It catches the light just right, and honestly makes the whole space feel special. ✨

Happy Friday, everyone — may your weekend be calm, cozy, and (mostly) candy-free. xx

A little peek into a bourbon room. This polished brass bar cart is the perfect mix of function and story—our clients are true bourbon enthusiasts, and those framed prints above? They’re from a distillery they visited in Ireland. A touch of memory, a bit of shine, and plenty of warmth—my favorite kind of combination.
→ If you had a dedicated “bar moment” at home, what would you stock first?

A little sneak peek of one of my favorite rooms from this project — the library. We’re working on the entire home, and while a few final pieces are still trickling in (a chestnut leather ottoman is on its way!), I couldn’t resist sharing. The palette has me completely smitten — dark green built-ins, a copper velvet sofa, and those colorful custom pillows pulling it all together. It’s giving cozy, collected, slightly speakeasy vibes… and I’m here for it.

Professional photos of the entire project are coming this spring, but I couldn’t wait that long to show you this space.

What do you think — worth the wait?

Fall in Chattanooga means cardigans in the morning, sweating through them by noon, and maybe-regrettable fires at night. 🍂 Over on the blog today, I’m sharing easy, cozy updates you can make without turning your house into a full-on harvest festival brochure (think: layered textiles, antique pottery, blanket baskets, and just a whisper of fall mood). Head to Southerly Abode to read the full post—your shelves and sofa will thank you. ✨
