Husking corn today and saving silk for our Silk Soap. Just look at those beautiful silks! Did you know that corn silks are used for many things? Such as, managing kidney stones, treating UTI's, and lowering blood pressure and even bed wetting. Claims of the benefits of the silk in soap are also many, such as, fixing skin pigmentation, relieve itching, rashes, and pain caused by wounds. Not to mention the silky sheen, moisturizing and great lather of Silk Soap.

A good day for chicory harvesting! Did you know: for centuries chicory has been used as a coffee substitute and to improve digestion. When leaves are tender they can be used in salads or sauteed. Chicory is a herb full of nutrients and may be beneficial in soap for skin problems. Crushed chicory leaves have been used to treat skin inflammation and wound healing. Look for our Chicory Soap this fall.

Harvesting Plantain today before the rain comes. Plantain Soap can be helpful in alleviating itching, rashes, cuts, and scarring, as well as treat acne. Most people think of this plant just as big ugly annoying w**d in their yard but it actually contains a variety of healing phytochemicals. Also it has anti-inflammatory flavonoids that protects cells from oxidative damage. Plantain Soap will be in our Naturals Line of soaps coming this fall. Who knows, this might just become the one soap you don't want to be without.

While soap making is temporarily on pause as we are into our blueberry season, I have to admit, I was super thrilled to find wild white yarrow growing in the Blueberry Field. I've been watching them grow, protecting the plants for weeks and patiently waiting for the perfect time to harvest the flowers, because, you know, Yarrow Soap is definitely on my mind and coming soon. ☺️

Soaping out of the garden this week! Natural purees can add wonderful colors, natural exfoliants and skin loving properties to our Garden Naturals. This week's soaps include our own homemade organic apple cider, Blueberry Field organic blueberries and organic carrots. What could be better?
