Consider this your invitation to share your favorite Life’s Patina Mercantile & Cafe moment 📷✨☕️

We’ve seen so many beautiful little glimpses of our Mercantile & Cafe through your eyes. Morning coffees, favorite corners, tables with friends, flowers on the porch, pastries worth photographing and all the little details that make a visit feel special.

So we’re giving you one more week to share your very favorite! We’ve extended our Life’s Patina Through Your Lens photo contest through midnight on September 14, and we’d love to see what you’ve captured. No need to be a professional photographer to enter!

Three winners will take home:

Join us for a beautifully curated tea at Willowbrook Farm on Sunday, September 13 from 3:30–5:30 pm. As the summer season begins to wind down and the days grow a little softer, we turn our attention to the garden and gathering the last harvests of tomatoes, herbs, vegetables and flowers before the season comes to an end. This afternoon is designed to celebrate that final bounty and the simple joy of gathering together around the table.

We will begin with a delicate amuse-bouche to awaken the palate, paired with a handcrafted seasonal spritzer inspired by the flavors of the garden. From there, you’ll be invited to select from our thoughtfully curated collection of teas, featuring a range of blends from classic black and soothing herbal to fresh green and floral selections. Our garden-inspired menu will be presented on signature tiered trays, thoughtfully styled to celebrate the season’s final harvest. Expect delicate finger sandwiches featuring fresh herbs and garden vegetables, warm savory bites, and an assortment of petite sweets inspired by late-summer fruits and flavors, each element designed to feel abundant, fresh, and reflective of the garden.

We’re so excited to invite you to our Bounty of the Garden Tea🫖Join us at Willowbrook Farm on Sunday, September 13 from 3:30–5:30 pm for an afternoon celebrating the beauty and abundance of late summer. We’ll gather around thoughtfully styled communal farmhouse tables, enjoying a seasonal spritzer, your choice of tea and beautiful tiered trays filled with finger sandwiches, savory bites and petite sweets, all inspired by late-summer flavors. It’s an unhurried afternoon to gather, linger and savor the final bounty of the garden before summer comes to an end. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Monday morning at 8 am at the link in our bio and on our website.

EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO STORMS! This Thursday, August 20, we’re staying open late in honor of the latest installment of the 2026 Town Tours & Village Walks, which celebrates the places, people and stories that have shaped our county. This week’s tour is a wonderful excuse to discover a little more of the history right in our own backyard in the village of Historic Yellow Springs! It invites visitors to experience the American Revolution from an often-overlooked vantage point: the critical medical infrastructure that sustained the Continental Army. The walking tour is free, open to everyone and begins at 5:30 pm at 1709 Art School Road, just a few steps from our Mercantile & Cafe.

So swing by before you join the tour! We’ll be here, open for shopping and serving up:

Life’s Patina through your lens 📷 We want to see our Mercantile & Cafe through your eyes. Your morning coffee. Your favorite place to sit. A light-drenched corner. A sweet treat. The lovely people you came with. The way the light hits the front porch. A little detail you captured to remember. We’re inviting you to capture your favorite moment at our Mercantile & Cafe and share it with us for a chance to win!

Winners will be selected by our team, including our founder and creative director, Meg, as well as our photographer, brand managers and other creative minds amongst our staff based on composition, creativity, storytelling, originality and the feeling your photograph evokes!

A deeper look at Life’s Patina Mercantile & Cafe✨After years of running Life's Patina Willowbrook Farm by Meg Veno, I discovered the Jenny Lind House in Historic Yellow Springs Village was for sale. Where many people saw a dilapidated house I saw endless potential. When I first walked into the Jenny Lind House, I felt an immediate pull toward her. She was stunning but she had also been neglected. Underneath trendy at the time 1980’s wall paper lay crumbling and moldy plaster and carpets that hid her original beauty but her walls, floors, fireplaces and layers of history were still there, quietly telling the stories of everyone who had passed through before us.

When we set out to make the Jenny Lind House the location of Life’s Patina Mercantile & Cafe we wanted to bring this old dame back to her former glory. My goal in this adaptive reuse project was to give her a new chapter in which her beauty and history were restored and preserved and in which she could enjoy a new modern day purpose.

I had a vision for a special kind of place where people could gather and linger in a serene, light-drenched environment, enjoy a scratch made, seasonally inspired menu that was both delicious but beautiful, shop a curated collection of unique home decor and gifts, and have a moment of escape from the intermittent troubles of everyday life. Every decision in the process of this painstaking renovation was carefully made with this ultimate vision in mind.

Bringing an old building back to life is not for the faint of heart. There were five plus years worth of historical reviews, permits, construction challenges, unexpected discoveries, delays, pandemic shutdowns and more than a few moments when I wondered if we would ever open the doors. Besides raising my five children, renovating and opening the Mercantile & Cafe is the most challenging thing I’ve ever done. But it’s also been so incredibly rewarding to see my many sleepless nights worrying about this endeavor pay off by watching all of you enjoy it so genuinely!

So there you have it. This is our story! From Willowbrook Farm to Yellow Springs Village, the heart of our mission remains: to celebrate the beauty of life, past and present🤍.
