At Life’s Patina, we’re believers in letting each season have its moment. And these weeks between Halloween and Thanksgiving? We’d rather linger a little longer in autumn than rush ahead to what comes next🍁🦌🪵🤎. This philosophy finds its way into just about everything we do. It’s reflected in the merchandise we thoughtfully select and bring into the Mercantile, with new discoveries and special finds arriving every week or so to mimic the gradual progression of the season. It’s in the seasonal menu we create in the cafe, the flavors we celebrate, the ingredients we use and the weekly specials that give us another reason to gather around the table.

Of course, we could probably sell more if we began talking about Christmas long before the pumpkins have had their moment or introduced holiday merchandise and menus months ahead of the actual season. It’s just not the way we choose to do things! And to each their own! We want to invite you to be where you are, to notice what’s beautiful about the season you’re in and to find little moments of delight in the everyday. Our hope is that each time you walk through our doors, there is something that makes you pause, something that inspires you, something delicious you want to savor and something unexpected to discover, no matter what challenges life might be throwing you.

Beauty, peace and relaxation aren’t reserved for the big occasions or the holidays. They’re in the changing leaves outside our windows, a thoughtfully set table, a favorite seasonal dish, a new treasure brought home and the simple pleasure of making time for yourself and those you love.

If this resonates, join us as we stay right here in this lovely in-between and enjoy it!

Save the date for a Thanksgiving tea🫖🦃On Sunday, November 15 we’ll be hosting a cozy and festive Thanksgiving tea at our Mercantile & Cafe in celebration of all of you whose support we are so very thankful for! Thankfulness is a big part contained within the next phase of fall. As we love to live with the seasons, we believe that the period of time after Halloween and before Thanksgiving carries its own magical rhythms and joys and we want to savor those rather than moving right into all things holiday. As always, guests to our tea will enjoy a selection of fine teas to choose from and their accoutrements, a seasonal spritzer and amuse bouche to start, and a tiered tea tray filled with sweet and savory delicacies that highlight the warming flavors of November.

Tickets will go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, October 29 at 6 pm. We hope you’ll join us!

Made from scratch. Inspired by the seasons. Served with beauty and care. At our cafe these principles are at the heart of what we do!

We are a scratch-made kitchen which means the food we serve is made in-house with intention and care, from our pastries to our soups to our dressings. Our philosophy is rooted in eating with the seasons and allowing nature to inspire what finds its way onto your plate. We highlight and celebrate the ingredients that are in season and source from local farmers and purveyors from the Chester County area whenever possible. We believe that simple, thoughtfully prepared food can be extraordinary when you let the ingredients speak for themselves. And because we believe food is art, we approach every dish as an opportunity to create something that’s as beautiful as it is delicious and delights the eye as much as the palate.

For us, it’s never just about serving a meal. It’s about creating a full experience for our guests that feels genuine and joyful, whether they are just stopping in for coffee or savoring a long brunch.
