This upstairs had no real circulation path, which made for awkward flow and unusable square footage. This family also needed another bedroom and bath for their large family. I introduced a large shed dormer to create the one thing the house was missing all along: a hallway.

More often than not, the best design decisions aren’t about finishes or furniture. They’re about flow. ✨

I spent some time this weekend sprucing up our back deck with fresh colors, with a stripey planter DIY with Low Odor Spray Paint.

If you’re thinking about adding color to your patios and decks this season, look to nature for color inspo! 🌳 🌊 ☀️ 🪨

Low Odor Colors used are: Daydreaming (base color), In The Green (stripe) and Oatmeal (stripe).

This piece is named “Float On” by my friend and former corporate co-warrior .art I am so excited to finally have one of Erin’s pieces in my home.

When I was first building HEM, I had this ongoing mantra to “make my boat float.” Here we are, six years later, and sure we’ve sprung a leak or two here and there, but this boat truly floats! 💙💙💙

Build a fire bowl with me! These are great tabletop features for warm nights on the patio and can be made with an old planter and spray paint. Color is Low Odor in Daydreaming.

Before and after pics of my split kitchen project — one side for hosting/entertaining and the other for everyday cooking, washing and small appliance storage. An idea I came up with after learning the middle wall could not be removed. Two fridges, two sinks, lots of awesome. Plus new bay window cabinetry for party spreads, and better flow to the dining and living areas. I have to give a special shoutout to my client and Jay who did an amazing job pulling this off (and running with this idea!) Work is by the super talented Patrick Kelly who is very used to my space planning hacks.

I put on my 2026 vision board that I wanted to host more parties and here we are. We did it! Some shots from our 80’s dinner party this weekend. Thanks to .nky for the awesome balloons in the prettiest retro colors.

I have a love/hate relationship with inspiration images because they can sometimes hide the real you. They also tend to be super trends-based, which complicates our quests to be timeless and unique. I’ve started to experiment with new questions in my interior design process and it’s been so, so fun (and effective!) to see what bubbles to the surface.

Let’s style these shelves! The only rule: fill your shelves with things you love. I like to lean on easy DIY like spray paint to bring the room’s color palette into the accessories, fill gaps and give older items new life.
