I had a great time making my piece for the Puzzle Show! The shape of the piece really inspired me to take it in a face direction and I’m happy with how the layered hair patterns turned out. It’s been a while since I did zendoodle-type pattern art and I always find it kind of meditative.

I love the drama of pipe organs… I did this piece for the Visual Music show that’s currently up at Art Etc. downtown. It was inspired by the ghostly organ in the ballroom scene of the Haunted Mansion ride, the villainous pipe organ character voiced by Tim Curry in Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, and a little bit by the Phantom of the Opera (including its title- “Music of the Night”). If you want to envision a soundtrack to accompany it, think “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor” by Bach 🎶

I’ve been doing some style and brand redevelopment (again) 😅 I’ll have more to share soon, especially as I start getting ready for May events. Looking forward to opening a new chapter with my art!

12 Days of Creatures, Day 3. Dragonmice live in cozy burrows underground where they make soft nests out of leaves and grass. During the day, they fly out over the forest floor, hunting for bugs to eat and shiny trinkets to bring back to their nests. They protect themselves against predators by breathing out a cloud of hot, dark smoke to give themselves cover to flee.

12 Days of Creatures, Day 2. Spirits are naturally ethereal, but spirits in the Veil Wilds sometimes choose to inhabit a more tangible form. Wick wraiths are spirits who have chosen to inhabit the wicks of magical candles such as those found in the Candlefen. They take the form of undying flames whose light can’t be extinguished by mundane means. Their spectral glow reflects their mood and can serve as either invitation or warning to passing travelers…

Day 1 of 12 Days of Creatures… a little late. I’ve had some time-sensitive D&D prep and I forgot I could draft posts, but I’m hoping to keep up more consistently after this.

Born in the light of the shadow realm’s eternal moon, Moon Elk have strong protective instincts. They naturally assume guardianship roles over smaller or weaker creatures and often use the glowing lures that grow from their antlers to guide smaller creatures to safety on dark nights. They prefer forest or grassland environments, such as the Moonfall Meadow region of the Veil Wilds. You can tell if a Moon Elk has been nearby by looking for their distinctive tracks- a trail of shadowy hoof prints with glittering specks of slowly fading starlight.

I’m doing a mini art challenge this month! For the next 12 days, I’ll be introducing some of the creatures that populate the Veil Wilds. Creatures of shadow, light, spirit, earth, fire, and magic wander these wilds- some friendly and some more dangerous…

Progression of my tree door portal piece🌲 I originally started off with a totally different color scheme but ended up switching halfway through to something a little warmer, which was more in line with my vision for the scene. One of my current art goals is to narrow down my favorite palettes to work with out of my big list of semi-identical palettes I’ve compiled 😅

Pathways to a new realm will open soon, for any travelers brave enough to step into the unknown…

I’ve spent the last month developing a broad worldbuilding art project and I can’t wait to introduce you to the Veil Wilds, a world-between-worlds where spirits, creatures, and witches wander. The main project will debut in January but I’ll be sharing some intro art throughout December, including a mini drawing challenge featuring some of the fantastical creatures that inhabit different parts of the Wilds.

I’ve also been trying to figure out how to be less of a ghost on social media 😅 If all goes well, hopefully you should start seeing more from me soon!

I’ve finished up my Artober challenge with Groovy Spooky! These two are potential future sticker designs, colored in a palette drawn from the colors of classic Scooby Doo. Did you know that Matthew Lillard, who played Shaggy in the live action movie and voices him in most recent Scooby adaptations, founded Beadle & Grimm’s, a company that sells D&D and Magic accessories?

I got a little behind on my Artober challenge schedule, but this is my Haunted Camp piece! If you saw me at the Halloweentown market, this might look a little familiar because it’s actually adapted from a bookmark design.

I’ve got at least one Groovy Spooky design done to finish out the month tomorrow, and I have some exciting new project plans coming up for November 👀
