We have a new weaver at Centinela Traditional Arts!
Ramon Gallegos has been weaving for about two years, focusing on larger blanket designs, but he's training to be a Chimayo production weaver while he weaves for us here at Centinela.

During this time, he has been weaving small designs; so he can increase his weaving speed all the while reinforcing and building upon techniques that he has learned.

Irvin Trujillo finished a new weaving recently!
Irvin described the design in this piece representing making choices, that with everything in life is a choice must be made. Things are not always black or white, but there are often two choices at any given moment where you must decide: "you do or you don't". Which reminded us of the quote:
"Do or do not. There is no try." Yoda, Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

Another new Chimayo weaving from Lisa Trujillo, titled "Fresh Start Chim" !
When Lisa weaves on her large loom in the main space of the gallery, she usually weaves two 48X72 pieces before cutting off to do the finishing work; a nice perk that our looms are able to hold so much warp (and completed weavings) on the beams!

This weaving also includes natural dyed indigo in two shades, madder root peach, and a light green from Chamisa with indigo overdye.
