When you need the can
When I was traveling in Africa last month, I kept seeing this weird round colorful thingie everywhere in the village. Honestly, I had no clue what I was looking at. Is it some kind of local Banksy situation? Some sort of art installation?
When I asked about it, they had no idea who Banksy was, but they were eager to show me what was inside. I was absolutely shocked when they opened the door. A fully functional bathroom! Complete toilet setup, all built inside what used to be an old tank or drum.
Can you imagine using this as your everyday bathroom? The creativity and problem-solving just blew my mind. Here I am back home complaining about my bathroom renovation, and these people turned literal industrial waste into something both functional and beautiful with those bright rainbow stripes.
I shared this in the DIY community on the Tedooo app and everyone was equally amazed. It really opened up this whole conversation about resourcefulness and making do with what you have.
The whole experience made me realize how much we take for granted. These people created something dignified and even cheerful out of necessity, while I stress about matching towel colors.
Before I left, I ordered some solar string lights from a crafter on Tedooo to donate to the community. Wanted to add a little something to help make their innovative spaces even brighter.
Sometimes the most incredible solutions come from the most challenging situations.
