Brad and Karen Hughes opened Artichoke, a curated cookware collection, April 2, 2016 in their renovated Italianate OTR building at 1824 Elm Street, adjacent to the historic Findlay Market. In October 2021, they passed the torch to Hannah and Tom Bender, who bring years of experience working in family businesses at Findlay Market, and are continuing to bring the Artichoke vision to life. Artichoke
is your go-to place for the best in cookware and everything else you need in your kitchen. We have created a “curated cookware collection” with a focus on cookware that is well-designed and finely crafted. We focus on US, European, and Japanese made cookware and cutlery, with lines including gorgeous French cookware such as Cristel, Staub, and Emile Henry, German cookware and cutlery from Zwilling and Wustof, British ceramics from Mason Cash, knives from Japanese makers Kikuichi and Miyabi, and beautiful French linens from Garnier-Thiebaut. We have everything from the basic essential gadget to that special pan you can’t find anywhere else. We can help you understand how to use your new cookware, what works best for what’s fresh at the market, and we will always stand by our products. Artichoke has a demo kitchen that allows us to show you how to use our products and take advantage of what’s in season at the market. We can help you learn to cook things you might otherwise feel reluctant to try. Our Cooking School offers 1 hour demonstration classes on everything from making fresh pasta to how to cook fresh fish, as well as classes on new craft spirits such as Bourbon and gin.
