Just out of the woodshop is this spalted maple cheese board with a clear resin coating and core. I love the live edges and the many color variations within the wood. Underside has a resin clear coat too. Dimensions: 21.5"x12.5"x.75. Wood sourced from

A basket weave cutting board has been on my to do list for a long time. It is a bit daunting to plan, cut, and assemble over 130 pieces, but the results can be stunning. Dimensions: 18.5x12.5x1.25, wood: cherry, maple, vermillion

Just wrapped up this handsome walnut valet box. The beautiful walnut graining flows around the four sides. The box has a hinged, lockable framed glass top. A cushioned ring pad, five partitions, and two watch pillows are found inside the main compartment. A lower drawer with an ebony pull has four more storage spaces. An engraved brass tag personalizes the box. The valet box makes a beautiful graduation, bar mitzvah, or birthday present.

What do you do with that catch-all space between the garage and the kitchen? Shoes, coats, backpacks, and sports uniforms pile up and get in the way! To battle the clutter, I added two shoe racks, three hanging spaces, and six floating shelves. And now the client can find their stuff and see the floor again!

I refreshed and refinished this wood plaque for my first project as a Loose Ends () Finisher. It was sent back to the family in Minot, ND who had this response:

"I just received my parents project back today.  You did a wonderful wonderful job!!   I am super happy!! You did excellent work and Angelicia [Loose Ends Coordinator] are the very best!!!! Thank you thank you".

Made my day!

Established in May 2023, Loose Ends is a network of volunteer 'finishers' (now at 26,000 in 65 countries) who complete projects (usually needle works) left undone by the passing of a loved one. I was so inspired by the mission that I volunteered as a 'finisher' for any woodworking projects that arise. This week I got my first project: a sign board left undone by a beloved father. I cleaned it up, restored the finish, and added 3 photo shelves. The completed project is now on its' way back to an excited family in Minot, North Dakota. And I am already looking forward to whatever project comes next.

BAM! And just like that, a little basement nook gets a splash of color and new functionality. This three double-door cabinet install adds tons of out-of-sight storage. The laminate top with a natural stone look provides a durable and affordable countertop.

This fun project involved enhancing the bedrooms of two brothers by adding a wall full of new storage and display space. Base cabinets on both sides of the wall space provide out-of-sight storage (one side angled to avoid interfering with closet access). Adjustable shelves above the cabinets create new spaces, as do the room-spanning shelves. Lots of room for growing collections and keepsakes.

Here's a quick little mantel refresh project for these hot summer days. The design was influenced by cabinetry in adjacent room and a desire for the clean lines of modern styles.

Just installed this custom entryway piece for a local Clarksburg family. The piece is placed just inside the front door - a great place to catch errant shoes, coats, backpacks, and everything else that collects by the door. The client supplied photos of similar pieces she found online and we blended the best features with her own requests. The result is lots of new space with ready access to all passing by. The seat is white oak () with a dark stain and multiple polyurethane topcoats.
