Before televisions became the centerpiece of a room, it was lighting.

In the late 1800s and early 1900s, decorative lamps weren’t just practical—they were a status symbol. Art Nouveau designs, stained glass shades, cast metal figures, and colorful globes turned everyday lighting into artwork.

Many of the most sought-after lamps today were inspired by nature, with dragonflies, flowers, vines, and flowing feminine forms appearing in everything from shades to lamp bases.

More than a century later, they still do exactly what they were designed to do: make people stop and stare.

For most of history, money was meant to be spent—not saved.

The coins and currency in these photos survived wars, bank failures, economic booms, recessions, and generations of people who could have spent them.

Today they’re more than money. They’re little pieces of history that tell the story of where we’ve been and how we’ve changed.

And honestly? Holding a coin that’s over 100 years old never stops being cool.
