Here are 5 herbal preparations I think every beginner should learn to make for their home apothecary and not because they look pretty on the shelf either! You’ll actually find yourself reaching for these & often. They’re simple, practical & teach some of the most useful skills. 😊
Elderberry Syrup
A classic for seasonal & immune support and one of the easier herbal remedies to start with. Elderberries, ginger, cinnamon, and honey.
Plantain Salve
I talk about plantain constantly, I know! It’s only because it really is so useful. Got a bug bite, minor scrape or burn or even a splinter…rub some on.
Fire Cider
A traditional folk tonic made with apple cider vinegar, garlic, onion, ginger, horseradish, and honey. Strong? Yes. Useful? Also yes! Good for immune support, congestion relief, circulation, and considered a general pick me up.
Chamomile Tea Blend
Simple herbs can be some of the most effective. A calming tea blend with chamomile, lemon balm, lavender, or oatstraw is something many people genuinely benefit from daily. Good for stress & tension, better sleep, digestive calming, mood support, muscle relaxation, and a nervous system nourishment.
Garlic Honey
Probably one of the easiest things you can make. Just garlic plus raw honey. That’s it. Simple, traditional, and incredibly popular in home herbalism. Good for immune support, cough suppressant, heart health, digestive support, and is an anti inflammatory & antioxidant.
