Hey y’all! We’re still here and doing the work! 🤎

With more furniture stores closing brick-and-mortar locations and moving online, one of the benefits of working with an interior designer is access. We have access to hundreds of vendors and product lines, allowing us to source across multiple vendors while keeping the overall project budget in mind.

And sourcing isn’t just about finding something beautiful. We’re considering quality, comfort, function, materials, budget, and how you want to feel in your space.

Multiple vendors. Lots of numbers. Lots of details. All to bring the vision together beautifully, intentionally, and within budget.

Last week, we had the opportunity to participate in Glennon 101 with SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation. We put on white coats, rotated through departments and got an up-close look at the life-saving and life-giving work happening there every day.

One of the highlights for us was learning more about Cardinal Glennon’s new state-of-the-art hospital. Their leadership talked about how intentional they are being with the design, from the curved architecture and natural light to the colors, comfort and overall experience of the children and families who will be cared for there.

Of course, that got our attention.

SanctuaryIAM’s work sits at the intersection of interior design, health, wellbeing and community. We’re grateful for the rooms our mission is allowing us to enter, the people we get to learn from and the relationships we’re building along the way.

Thank you to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and Cardinal Glennon's Children’s Foundation for such a great experience, and to our dear friend Natasha Leonard for seeing the connection in our work and inviting us.

Every design decision contributes to the story a space tells, from the materials and lighting to the artwork and architectural details.

Here, a functional bookshelf becomes something more. It reflects the character of the space and gives visitors an experience they'll remember.

Monday Perspective

While preparing for a project in this home, I found myself thinking less about what could be changed and more about what was already there.

This artwork reflected a life rich with experiences.

Travel. Culture. Curiosity. Pieces collected over time instead of purchased all at once.
It reminded me how quickly we can focus on what's missing while overlooking the things that already give our spaces meaning.

Creating a sanctuary begins by recognizing what already has meaning.

One of the most common things we notice during client walkthroughs isn't poor design. It's unfinished design.

Most of us finish the spaces everyone else will see first.

Then life gets busy.

A bathroom wall stays blank.
A hallway never comes together.
A corner waits for "someday."

A space doesn't always need a complete makeover.

Sometimes it simply needs thoughtful editing.

Ten years.

Ten years since my father passed, and while I miss him every day, I’m more than okay because he prepared me well for life, including the reality that one day he would leave it.

What he gave me in 36 years was more than enough for a lifetime.

His steady love and presence became the bedrock of my self-assuredness and confidence.

This old fuzzy photo reminds me of that. While my older siblings were off on their own adventures, he made sure I had my own.

He taught me how to think critically, how to trust myself, and how to become my own sanctuary.

Because it’s never just about how long someone is here.

It’s about the quality of what they deposit while they are.

Slowing down and easing into the weekend.

The porch is a major part of how I do this. A place to think, breathe, read, meditate, and realign before stepping back into all that life and leadership require.

At SanctuaryIAM, this is at the heart of what we believe: our spaces should support our wellbeing, not just our routines.

And today, on Juneteenth, I’m especially mindful that freedom is 1000% my “why.” The freedom to rest. The freedom to create. The freedom to build spaces, businesses, and futures with intention.

Because true freedom should move us beyond ourselves. To be free enough to create solutions so others can experience that freedom too.

As we head into the weekend, I hope you find room to pause, exhale, and restore.
