The State of Florida's Department of Revenue (DOR) recently adopted a new Emergency Rule (Rule 12ER26-1) that provides homeowners a means of claiming a sales tax refund for purchasing and installing impact windows and doors in their homes.

This is part of a larger home hardening incentivization strategy by the State to encourage Florida homeowners to improve their home's protection against hurricanes like the recent Isaias.

If you make a qualifying purchase of new impact windows or doors between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2029, you could receive up to $500 in refunds on the sales tax you paid! Whether you just ordered new windows recently or are planning to get them in the near future, check out our article to learn more!

Time for a quick impact window replacement FAQ: What's a Notice of Commencement (NOC)?

It's simply the name for a formal document filed with the county clerk's office that states when your impact window replacement project (or other major home renovation/construction project) will begin.

Your impact window installer should be able to walk you through the process of acquiring, signing, and filing a notice of commencement with the appropriate muncipal authorities.

Need help from an experienced team of installation pros who can guide you through your whole imapct window replacement journey? Reach out to Karoly Windows & Doors to get started!

Tuesday's a great day to highlight another five-star review from a Karoly customer! Today's review comes from W. Murphy, who was getting new windows and sliding glass doors, all impact-rated:

"I reached out to Karoly for new sliding windows in my florida room and two exterior doors. Karoly came out and spent quite a while getting all the measurements right. That makes you feel good. When the installers came out, two days and done. Windows look great and the doors are solid and close tight. Everything is now impact and hurricane rated. I got my insurance discount. Thanks Karoly!"

What does "Builder Grade" mean for windows? It's an unofficial industry term used to describe the kind of windows many construction companies tend to prefer: Cheap and just enough to satisfy local building codes. Often by the bare minimum. On paper, if not in reality.

They're the kind of windows that get installed by someone looking to cut costs wherever they can without concern for the long-term effects of cheaping out on such a critical part of a home's exterior.

Builder grade windows are often prone to failure, leaks, and other issues over time. That's why it's important to go beyond 'builder grade' to get impact windows that are built to last and installed to perfection!

Get started on your window replacement with a team of experienced pros who don't settle for 'builder grade'! Reach out to Karoly Windows & Doors today:
