Answers to common questions:
1. When is the last day I can come paint pottery? How long will it take to get back?

- Last day to paint is March 28. We will make every effort to fire your piece and ship it out within 1-3 weeks afterwards. If painting before March 14th, no shipping fee is required. We just ask that you pick up your piece before the last day we are open for business.
- Shipping speed cannot be guaranteed but should take about 2-5 business days to arrive after being shipped.

3. Can I still use my gift card?

- Please use all gift cards by March 28. Gift cards cannot be used online or redeemed for cash. If trying to use a gift card for a class deposit, please pay the deposit with a normal debit or credit card and you can redeem your gift card for the remaining balance the day of the class.

4. Can I still book a class on the wheel?

- Wheel classes can still be booked via the website until March 20th. This is first come first serve for available dates. Please book as soon as possible to guarantee your spot.

5. Do you deliver if I live out of town?

- If you paint after March 14th, we will deliver wherever you need us to. We will ask for this info at checkout.

6. Will you still sell your handmade pottery at art shows and markets?

- Yes, we plan to continue selling online and at some but not all pop up markets. We’ll try to keep you up to date if you’re a part of our mailing list, and announce shows we will be participating in on instagram. We may also do pottery “drops” on instagram sporadically

7. Can I still book off-site paint your own pottery parties?

- Yes! We’re still trying to figure out what this will look like but if you have something in mind, reach out via dm and we can discuss your event.

8. Why are you closing? What now?
We have decided to close and move the business online. We have been building this online business behind the scenes for the past 8 months and are so excited for this next chapter of our lives. We have loved being apart of the downtown community and getting to meet and share the joy of pottery with all of you. (Continued in the comments)

Underglaze tips 🩷👍🏻🌈

Vibrant underglaze colors always show up best on white clay bodies. My favorite is Bmix clay.

Start with leather hard clay! Clay must be in the leather hard stage for this specific underglaze painting and carving method

Paint the underglaze on before carving! I prefer this method but you can do what works for you!

Happy painting :) have you ever tried underglaze?

Loading the killing can be tricky. Here’s why:

You could be ruining thousands of dollars worth worth of Kin shelving if you do these things wrong.

1: Not cleaning the bottoms of your pottery before you put your pieces in the kiln. This can cause the pottery to get stuck to the kiln shelf.

It can also cause surface issues on the bottoms of your pieces. If the glaze adheres improperly.

2: If you put your pieces too close together during a glaze fire, all of the pieces can fuse together leaving you with a huge mess.

You just want to make sure that you are spacing your bisque ware out before firing it in the kiln

Which design should I do?

When I first started doing pottery, the COOLEST thing to me was that it’s art you can use.

It’s not just hanging on a wall collecting dust, it’s art that you use every single day. This concept still baffles my mind and is one of the reasons I create mainly mugs and functional pieces that can be used daily not just for special occasions.

Anyone at any point in their life can pick up a new hobby or start a new craft. The possibilities are endless and imagination is creativities best friend. Stop over thinking and start creating!! Love you 🩷💝🥳

☕️ Are your mug handles cracking, separating, or falling off? Let’s fix that 👇

If your handles keep separating from your mugs, you’re not alone - it’s one of the most common beginner pottery struggles!

Here are two major reasons it happens and how to prevent it:
1️⃣ Your mug and handle aren’t the same moisture level before attaching.
2️⃣ You’re not drying & covering them correctly .

Make sure both pieces are leather-hard and properly slipped and scored, then cover them to dry slowly.

Bonus tip: flip your mugs upside down while drying so gravity can help support those seams 💪
