Della Robbia...16th century Germans...The Victorians...fruit has played a staring role in Christmas celebrations for centuries! But it is Colonial Williamsburg and gardener and florist Louise Fisher who was the hostess at the Raleigh Tavern in the 1930s we have to thank for our modern interpretation of the fruit wreath and garland.
This year's Christmas Garland Kit features faux orange pomanders and dried orange slices. The pomander has evolved from medicinal buffer used to ward off foul air in the 1300s to Tudor gift of fortune to Victorian clove studded decoration. In the garland it channels abundant festivity and hints at the amazing smells of ginger, clove, and cinnamon.
The orange pomanders help bring that nostalgic botanical style to the garland and pair beautifully with the vibrant ribbons.
P&P's garland kits are fully customizable. You can add the pomanders or not.
Each kit includes a 6’ or 12’ base garland with pine, cedar, magnolia, and pine cones. You choose what to add to the garland base from 6 floral accents and 8 ribbon options (cut into streamers or tied into bows). Place your order then receive the garland kit in the mail in November ready to be assembled and hung.
