The process actually starts with drawing the pattern in illustrator but I forgot to record that part 😂 Join me making some happy summer geese, the pattern is cut from Baltic birch on the xtoolp3, shaped with the marathon rotary tool, and painted with acrylics. I love making these!

Anyone else like to make the most of riding shot gun on long trips and bring along something to make?

Craft show prep doesn’t stop for rain ☔️

Today’s setup involved plastic sheeting, the attic, and being very thankful my airbrush has a light 😂 Not glamorous, but the pieces are getting finished.

One of the most exciting parts of intarsia is bringing a flat cutout to life through shaping! This Highland cow was cut from Baltic birch with the xTool P3 and shaped with the Marathon rotary tool. Next step: priming, and finally adding color.

Our first market of the year is officially in the books, and what an amazing way to kick off the season. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared kind words, and supported handmade—it means so much to our little business at Why Knot Workshop. Already excited for the next one. ✨

Four projects, countless tiny pieces, and so many hours later… they’re finally finished ✨

These hand-shaped wood intarsia pieces are officially ready for their first craft show appearance! Each one is cut, carved, and painted by hand—layer by layer—until everything comes together just right. I love seeing all the individual pieces turn into something with so much depth and character.

If you’re headed to the show, come see them in person (they’re even better up close 🤍)
