In response to the growing number of requests, I’m putting together a comics art workshop for adults. And by “adults” I also mean high school aged teens with in interest in graphic novels.
The class explores how illustration and writing combine to make comics. The curriculum is sourced from the studies and theories of Will Eisner, Scott McCloud and Ivan Brunetti.
This will be a studio environment where people are encouraged to share their own ideas and techniques. I’ll supply the paper and pens, but feel free to bring your own supplies if you prefer. We’ll be drawing on 9x12 smooth finish Bristol board. Rendering skills are not important! As the image below demonstrates, even stick figures can tell a compelling story. Writers and artists alike are welcome.
I’m planning three 90 minute classes for November- either Sunday or Thursday evenings- beginning at 7:00. Classes are held in the studio space above Jubili Beads on Haddon Ave. The course is $75.00 when paid in advance.
If interested, please let me know as soon as possible. I’d like to set the schedule by next week. This class will require a minimum number of confirmed registrations to proceed. So now’s your chance!
