🚨 Urgent Help Needed! Over 150 Dogs in Our Care! šŸ¾šŸ’”

At Santa Teresa Lost and Found Pet Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we are currently caring for over 150 dogs, many of whom need special medical attention and loving homes. These sweet fur babies have faced unimaginable hardships, and now they need your support more than ever!

Meet Lucky šŸ–¤: Lucky is a brave 4-month-old black lab who survived a terrible act of cruelty. At just 5 weeks old, he and his siblings were strangled and discarded like garbage. Tragically, Lucky was the only one to survive. He wandered the streets of Socorro, TX, before being found and taken into a loving foster home.

Early Picture of Lucky

Though Lucky now enjoys playing with other dogs and is full of life, he suffers from chronic respiratory issues that will likely affect him for life. But with your support, we can continue to care for him and many other special pups like him.

Lucky Today

Other Special Pups in Need: 🐶 A young puppy with diabetes requiring daily care.
🐾 A sweet dog battling cancer in need of treatment and comfort.

All our dogs live in private foster homes where they receive individual care and love—no shelter life for these pups! We also work hard to ensure each dog finds the perfect forever home. The adoption fee covers the following essential items for each dog:

3 DAPP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus vaccines)
1 Bordetella (Kennel Cough vaccine)
Annual Rabies vaccine
2 Deworming treatments
Microchip for identification
Spay/Neuter surgery
Right now, our funds are running dangerously low, and we need your help to continue providing for these precious dogs! As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we rely 100% on donations and volunteers. None of our fosters or workers are paid, and many of our fosters have to supply food, blankets, kennels, and more out of pocket. Every bit helps us continue our mission! šŸ’•

šŸ›’ How You Can Help:

Donate food: We desperately need Pedigree Puppy Food, grain-free dog foods, canned food, and replacement formulas for puppies who no longer have their mothers.
Donate supplies: Blankets, kennels, Ge**er Rice cereal for underdeveloped puppies—everything helps!
Sponsor a dog’s medical care: Help us cover the vet bills for dogs like Lucky and others who need specialty care.
These sick dogs especially need specialty vet care sponsors to cover their vet bills, as many are suffering from chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Your support can ensure they get the treatments they need!

šŸ“¦ How to Donate:

Santa Teresa Rescue
Address: P. O. BOX 1362, Santa Teresa, NM 88008

Donation Pick-up: Santa Teresa Rescue can also pick up donations! Call us at (915) 526-1787.
Our amazing fosters provide love and care for each dog in their own homes, but the financial burden is heavy. Please consider donating, sharing, or sponsoring a pup today to give these dogs a second chance at life. Remember, your donations are tax-deductible, and together, we can make a difference. šŸ•ā¤ļø

Discovering the Craft and Wellness Wonders of Tunisian Crochet with Violet’s Yarnings
Welcome to Violet’s Yarnings, where we explore the beautiful intersection of crafting and well-being. Today, we delve into the unique world of Tunisian crochet, a craft that not only allows us to create stunning pieces but also offers a myriad of mental health benefits. Whether you're a seasoned crocheter or new to the hooks, Tunisian crochet is a journey worth embarking on, blending creativity, skill, and therapeutic practice into one.

The Charm of Tunisian Crochet

Tunisian crochet, sometimes known as Afghan crochet, is a fascinating craft that sits between knitting and crochet. Utilizing a long hook, it allows multiple stitches to be worked simultaneously, creating a dense and warm fabric that's perfect for everything from blankets to, most enticingly, wearable tops.

Getting Started

Tools You’ll Need: A Tunisian crochet hook is essential, designed longer than traditional hooks to hold more stitches. Your yarn choice will depend on your project, but for tops, cotton or blends work wonders for their breathability.

Basic Stitches to Master: Start with the simple stitch (Tss), and then venture into the knit (Tks) and purl (Tps) stitches. Each stitch offers a different texture, expanding your creative palette.

The Technique: Tunisian crochet is performed in two phases: the forward and return passes. This technique crafts a thick, textured fabric, setting the foundation for a myriad of projects.

Beginner-Friendly Top Patterns

Simple Tunisian Tank Top: Ideal for beginners, this project uses lightweight yarn and the Tunisian simple stitch, perfect for practicing tension and stitch uniformity.
Summer Top: Combine Tunisian knit and purl stitches to create a textured, yet airy top suitable for warmer weather.
Lacy Top: For those ready for a challenge, incorporate lace patterns to craft a beautiful, breezy garment.
Crop Top: A quick and fun project, crop tops can be customized with color-blocking or stripes for added flair.
Beyond the Hook: Mental Health Benefits

Mindfulness and Focus: The rhythmic nature of Tunisian crochet encourages a present-focused mindset, reducing stress and anxiety.
Sense of Achievement: Completing a project boosts self-esteem and provides a tangible sense of accomplishment.
Creativity and Expression: Choosing designs and colors allows for personal expression and creativity, enhancing mental wellness.
Social Connections: Joining crochet groups, either online or in person, fosters a sense of community and belonging.
Cognitive Health: Learning Tunisian crochet stimulates the brain, potentially improving memory and cognitive functions.
Stress Relief: The repetitive motions of Tunisian crochet offer a calming effect, serving as a healthy outlet for stress.
Tips for Crafting Success

Gauge Matters: Always work a gauge swatch to ensure your garment fits as intended.
Blocking: To shape your piece and reduce curling, consider wet blocking, especially effective for natural fibers.
Yarn Choice: The feel against the skin and the drape of your garment will greatly depend on the yarn you select.
Resources for Further Exploration

Books like "Tunisian Crochet Workshop" and "The New Tunisian Crochet" are excellent for deepening your knowledge, offering a range of techniques and patterns. Online platforms such as Ravelry and YouTube are treasure troves of tutorials and community support.

In Conclusion

Tunisian crochet is more than just a crafting technique; it's a pathway to creating beautiful, functional art while nurturing your mental and emotional health. At Violet’s Yarnings, we believe in the power of crafting to heal, connect, and inspire. So, as you pick up your Tunisian crochet hook, remember you're not just making something beautiful to wear—you're also weaving a tapestry of wellness into your life. Happy crocheting, and may your stitches bring you peace and joy!

The Joy of the Catherine's Wheel Stitch in Bright Colors"

Hello, fellow crochet enthusiasts!

Today, I want to delve into one of my all-time favorite crochet stitches: the Catherine’s Wheel. More than just its intricate design and textured beauty, I've recently been combining this stitch with bright, vivid yarn colors. The result? A burst of happiness every time I look at my creations.

The Charm of the Catherine’s Wheel Stitch
For those unfamiliar, the Catherine’s Wheel stitch is a classic in the world of crochet. With its series of shells and arches, it creates an almost mesmerizing pattern reminiscent of the intricate stained-glass designs seen in cathedrals. The stitch is not just about aesthetics; it's a journey. Every row built on the previous one forms a design that looks complex yet is soothingly rhythmic to create.

Swatch Tutorial: Getting Started with the Catherine’s Wheel Stitch
If you've never tried the Catherine’s Wheel stitch before, here’s a quick guide to get you started on a swatch:

Foundation Chain: Start with a foundation chain in a multiple of 8, plus an additional 5 chains.
Setting Up: Begin the stitch pattern by working treble crochets and progressing with single crochets and half-double crochets.
Forming the Wheel: Continue with the subsequent rows, building on the previous ones, to shape the wheel pattern.

For a detailed step-by-step tutorial, I highly recommend this video tutorial by Naztazia.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaPgAo55RoY Not only is it easy to follow, but it also provides clear visuals for every step.

If you're short on time and want a quick overview, check out this short video on YouTube. It gives a rapid run-through, which is perfect for those who are somewhat familiar with the basics of crochet.

Happiness in Every Hue
The real magic began when I started integrating bright colors into this stitch pattern. Think neon pinks, electric blues, vibrant yellows, and lush greens. Why these colors, you ask?

Bright colors have a profound effect on our emotions. They can uplift our spirits, energize us, and trigger feelings of happiness. And when you combine them with a stitch as beautiful as the Catherine’s Wheel, it's like painting a canvas with joy.

Wrapping Up
To every crocheter out there, if you've not yet tried Catherine’s Wheel stitch or have only worked it in muted or monochromatic shades, I urge you to break out those bright yarns. Let the colors flow, let the wheels rotate, and let a little more joy enter your world.

Remember, crochet is not just a craft; it's an expression. And with the Catherine's Wheel stitched in bright colors, it's an expression of pure, unadulterated happiness.

Stay vibrant, and keep crocheting!
