A quick update from Dan Hayes.

After helping buyers and sellers across Colorado Springs, Monument, and Palmer Lake, I’ve stepped away from real estate. Thank you to every family who trusted me with one of the biggest decisions of their lives. It was an honor.

What’s next is something my wife and I have been building in our shop for a while: Maple Trails, our family woodworking and custom fabrication business right here in Colorado Springs.

A little about me: I’m an Air Force veteran, a husband and dad, and I’ve always loved building things that last. At Maple Trails we make handcrafted American flags, charcuterie and cutting boards, keepsake boxes, signs, home decor, and custom furniture, plus laser-engraved slate coasters and signs that make one-of-a-kind personalized gifts.

If you’re a business owner or real estate agent, we also create branded client gifts and closing gifts, with volume pricing available.

From here on, you’ll find all of our work on the Maple Trails page. Give it a follow, and if you’ve got an idea for a custom piece, send us a message. We love a good challenge.

Big weekend ahead, Colorado Springs! Here are a few picks from this week's Hayes Weekend Report:

Boo at the Zoo returns to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Friday and Saturday night, trick or treating and all. Pikes Peak International Raceway hosts Fall Bash, its final festival weekend before the track closes for good. The Air Force Falcons take on UNLV at Falcon Stadium Saturday afternoon. Three local farmers markets, Old Colorado City, Shoup Road, and Margarita at Pine Creek, wrap up their 2026 seasons this Saturday, so it is your last chance to stop by. And if you want to make a day trip of it, ZooBoo at the Pueblo Zoo is about 45 minutes south.

This is a big weekend for Colorado Springs! Fall is here and the calendar is packed, so here are a few of my favorite picks for September 25 to 27.

The Commodores bring their Motown classics to Ford Amphitheater Friday night, while Stargazers Theatre hosts an Eagles tribute band for a laid back evening of classic rock. Saturday is loaded, with the 5th Annual Falcon Harvest Festival, the McAllister House Museum's 65th anniversary Harvest Festival, and Venetucci Farm's Harvest Hootenanny in the you pick flower fields. And if you want a truly can't miss night, Bruno Mars takes the stage at Falcon Stadium for a rare stadium show right here in our city.

There is a lot more on the blog, including free family activities, a Sunday soccer match, and a fun owl program at Garden of the Gods.
