Sometimes you look around your home and realize…

This doesn’t feel like me anymore.

Maybe you’ve changed.

Your kids have grown. Your lifestyle is different. Your priorities have shifted. You’ve traveled, collected things you love, discovered your style and become a different version of yourself.

But somehow, your home still reflects who you used to be.

That’s where Soulful Design comes in.

MINDFUL LIVING. 🌿

Have you ever walked into a room and immediately felt calmer?

Or walked into another and felt overwhelmed without really knowing why?

Our environments affect us.

The lighting. The clutter. The colors. The way a room flows. Where we gather. Where we rest. Even whether we have a place to simply be still.

That’s why I think about more than how a room looks.

I think about how you need that room to make you feel and how it needs to support your life.

Maybe you need a bedroom that helps you slow down at the end of the day.

A living room that brings your family together.

A home that functions better so everyday life feels a little less chaotic.

Or simply a space where you can breathe.

Because beautiful design shouldn’t just be something you look at.

It should make your life better.

That’s Mindful Living and it’s another part of creating a home where you can thrive. 💚

Your home shouldn’t look like it came straight off a showroom floor.

It should feel collected. Interesting. Personal.

Original art. Pieces from your travels. Something you’ve owned for 20 years. Natural materials, texture, color, and furnishings chosen because they belong in your home, not because they came as a set.

I want to walk into your home and discover pieces of your story throughout it.

Because an artful home isn’t about following trends or having expensive things.

It’s about surrounding yourself with things you genuinely love and creating a home that couldn’t belong to anyone else.

That’s an Artful Home and it’s one part of creating a home where you can thrive. 💚

I came home from ICON with something I wasn’t expecting…clarity.

I’ve spent the last few days thinking about my business, where I want it to go, and more importantly, why I started AJ Design & Consulting in the first place.

And I keep coming back to this:

I want to create homes that capture the soul of the people who live there, who they are, who they’ve evolved into, and the life they’re creating next.

Because I truly believe our environments matter.

Where we live affects how we feel, how we function, how we connect with the people we love, and our overall quality of life.

That’s the kind of designer I want to be.

I create spaces that support your wellbeing, elevate your everyday life, and give you an environment where you can thrive.

And after a lot of reflection, I finally have the words for what I’ve been trying to build all along:

ARTFUL HOMES.
MINDFUL LIVING.
SOULFUL DESIGN.

And ultimately…

Finally picked this up last night, and I’m obsessed. 🤍
When our daughter graduated, we had this one-of-a-kind piece created by local artist Brett Morgan. Seeing it catch the natural light here just brings the whole space to life.
And this is what makes a home soulful to me.
It’s not about filling your space with perfectly coordinated things. It’s about surrounding yourself with pieces that tell your story.
This is the only one of its kind, representing such a special moment in our family that we’ll always cherish.

I’m loving the requests I’ve been getting from clients lately.

A meditation room.

YES. This is what I signed up for.

Not every interior designer is the same… and that’s a good thing.

I don’t want to attract everyone. I want to attract people who value creativity, authenticity, and homes with personality.

If you’re looking for cookie-cutter design, I’m probably not your designer.

A home doesn’t have to be broken to deserve beautiful design.

There was nothing functionally wrong with this bathroom. But by reimagining it, we created a space with more warmth, personality, and intention.

Because good design is about how it makes you feel every single day.
