We got a new horse duck cloth and a new cotton print at work earlier this year, and I’ve been wanting to make a new purse ever since! I bought the supplies several weeks ago, but I just got around to making it today. It’s not perfect, but it’s perfect for me! Definitely a labor of love!

Anyone else suffer from “overwhelm” or “executive dysfunction”? (I think that’s what it’s called.)

In preparing to submit art pieces to the Mush Love store in OCC for sale, I don’t just work on one idea at a time, I work on 3 or 4 at a time! And this is what my workspace looks like as a result!

I made my first art piece to sell at Mush Love, Tee!

I started with a locally sourced pine wood slice, then built a cardboard box to hold the battery pack for the fairy lights. I also used stacked slices of cardboard to build a small “hill” to add dimension.

I covered everything with my faux moss mat, then added vintage mushroom picks, cutting one open and stuffed part of the string of lights inside it.

I finished it off with a few sticks, some silk plant material, and small flowers.

I hope it’ll be a good seller, especially since it lights up! What do you think?

I recently posted on my personal page that I discovered a new mushroom store in Old Colorado City, “Mush Love, Tee.” I bought a Morel lamp, some Amanita pj’s and crocheted headband, books, stickers, and more!

I even got to meet the owner! I asked if she was still accepting artists, and she said YES! So I got an Artist Contract and told her I’d be in touch.

Since then, I’ve been searching FBMP for supplies, made a few purchases, hit up Amazon, and dug out my collection of vintage mushroom picks to prepare to create some inventory. Over the next few weeks, I will get as many made as possible, then turn in my contract and “open for business“!

I am so excited over the possibilities!

I plan to make mushroom plaques, ornaments, coasters, bookmarks, and more! I will also offer for sale some pieces I created many years ago.

I’m trying to keep the prices low to attract customers, but what other items would you like to see me do? Remember, I can paint them, draw them, build them, burn them, felt them, embroider them, carve them, and color them!

I also met the owner of OCC Hat Bar, and hope to start selling decorated hats in her shop! But that’s for a different post!

Stay tuned for updates!

P.S. I will also be buying mushroom fabric to make totes and purses and coasters and more, OH MY!

Whew! I experimented big time today! Made several mistakes, but I managed to salvage the project, so all is good!

Last weekend at my son’s block party event, I bought a hand crocheted chicken purse from my son-in-law’s sister-in-law, Irena. I was so excited to support her small business, and she was my first purchase!

I knew I wanted the purse to have a liner so that pencils and keys and such wouldn’t stick through the holes, so I decided to make a liner tonight.

I chose some adorable chicken fabric from HL, plus 2 zippers: one to close up the purse, and a smaller one for an inside pocket.

Several mistakes later, I have an adorable handmade liner, and I plan to use my purse at church tomorrow!

Check out the notes under each photo to see how much I messed up! 🤪

Just made a wraparound skirt for my daughter today! Took 6 hours but I gave it a ruffle, so that was 2 hours alone! Ugh! But it turned out really cute! I’m making 2 more, but I probably won’t get both done tonight. Yay!

Stay tuned for the updates!

Game of Shrooms was yesterday, and I planted 3 pieces of mushroom art for foragers to find and keep! This is my 4th time participating, and I love doing it!

When people find them, we ask them to post to social media and tag our account (on IG, or Owner, Stephanie's Smorgasbord on FB) and , but they don’t always do that. Of all the art I’ve done, I think I’ve only been tagged once. 😞

I love giving back to the community, and this is a great way to surprise someone with an original piece of art. Finders Keepers!

See ya next year, foragers!
