New to the shop: locally made shoulder bags by Michael O’Brien. Here’s the story behind them:
“This line of bags grew out of my love for working with materials that already have a story. The exteriors are made from recycled coffee bean sacks sourced from Fretboard Coffee ( ) and the linings come from fabrics I’ve collected while thrifting around the area.
Sewing gives us the ability to take discarded materials and create something special. I like the challenge of bringing together different fabrics and patterns and letting them shape the final piece, because of this process no two bags are ever the same.
These pieces reflect my interest in reuse, local sourcing, and hands-on making, and they celebrate the idea that old materials can come together to create something fresh, functional, and entirely their own.”
We are happy to have four of these thoughtfully-crafted bags in the shop just in time for First Friday!
