"While painting is my happy place, what drives me is my belief that creating is a gift that should be used and shared. I have chosen to use my gift to make others smile – that is my mark. So many changes over the past five years. I have retired, married and evolved as an artist. I am constantly stretching my creative muscles and have grown in the process. My path seems to be to challenge myself always, making a habit to embrace the changes in my life and art. But in all of this change some things are constant- my passion to paint, a deep love of nature and using my surroundings as inspiration, but just as much is brought out of everyday events and the overlooked beauty in small things. Creating a connection between the subject matter, me and you. When someone shares my love of a subject and connects to the art, this gives my work meaning. Many of my works have been exhibited at local galleries - Lawrence Street Gallery, Northville Art House and Our Town Art Exhibit

I live in Birmingham, MI with my husband and our cat. When not creating, you will find me in puttering in the garden, reading books and walking or bicycling through the neighborhood.

Every October, thousands of sandhill cranes drop out of the Michigan sky at sunset, and it is one of the most astonishing sights in the Midwest. 🦢

They gather in southern Michigan marshes before the long flight south, and the best place to see it is the Haehnle Sanctuary in Jackson County and the wetlands around Kalamazoo. Birds that stand nearly four feet tall come in by the hundreds, calling in a rattling, prehistoric voice that carries for miles. These cranes belong to a species that has been around for millions of years.

As the sky turns pink and orange, the silhouettes pour in with wings spread wide and legs trailing behind them, settling into shallow water to spend the night together. Everybody goes quiet, because nobody wants to miss a single moment. 🌅

Michigan rewards the people who pay attention to its seasons. Moments like this do not cost a thing, and they stay with you far longer than most things you can buy.
