Dear drivers (especially if you don’t know much about horses): Please don’t cut in front of a horse trailer just because you see a big gap. We leave that space on purpose. It’s not because we drive slowly, it’s because we need extra room to stop safely.
Horses in the trailer need us to brake gently and take turns slowly so they can keep their balance. A sudden stop or sharp turn can hurt them, or even tip the trailer over.
In this photo, the mare has very little space, and her foal is standing under her. She is doing her best to stay still and protect her baby. I can only help her if I drive carefully and have enough space.
Please be patient and give us room. Most people don’t mean harm. They just don’t know.
