🏭 Growth and new connections at Murray’s Mill!

As the mill continued to evolve, a room was added to the side of the General Store to house the Catawba Candy Company warehouse, operated by John Murray’s son-in-law, Pete Cline (1911–1985).

During this era, Guy Flowers (1918–2005) worked full-time at the mill, while Julius Clifton Drum (1922–1981) worked there prior to World War II. Julius was the son of G.D. Drum, founder of Midstate Mills in Newton—another connection to Catawba County’s rich milling history.

✨ From milling grain to warehousing candy, Murray’s Mill was a busy part of the local community!

💬 Do you remember the Catawba Candy Company, or have family stories connected to Murray’s Mill? Share your memories with us in the comments!
