This Season’s Design Philosophy: The Art of Being Present

In a world obsessed with perfection—perfect homes, perfect gatherings, perfect holiday moments—I want to offer you permission to simply breathe.

Life moves at a relentless pace. We rush from one task to another, one season to the next, always thinking about what needs to be done rather than savoring what’s happening right now. But here’s the truth that interior design has taught me: the most beautifully designed space means nothing if we’re too stressed to enjoy it.

Your home isn’t a museum. It’s not a showpiece that exists solely for others to admire. It’s the backdrop for your life, your laughter, your imperfect and absolutely perfect moments with the people you love.

So this holiday season, my only design tip is this: Remember to breathe.

When the turkey is taking longer than expected, breathe.

When the house isn’t as tidy as you’d hoped, breathe.

When family dynamics get complicated, breathe.

When you catch yourself in a moment of genuine connection, breathe that in too.

The most beautiful spaces are the ones filled with presence, not perfection. Luna here is an expert in being present.

Pantone’s white might be their most courageous choice yet. 🤍
While everyone’s calling it “boring,” I’m calling it brilliant. And trust me—I’m not even a white person. I don’t have a single white wall in my house.

But here’s why I respect this choice:
In a world screaming for attention, choosing a warm white is almost radical. It takes real confidence to celebrate restraint when spectacle is expected.

This isn’t a lack of vision—it’s sophisticated design thinking. Whites are notoriously difficult to master. They demand an understanding of undertones, natural light, and how every element in a space relates. Getting it right is an art form.

More importantly? It embraces the power of neutrality. In a polarized world obsessed with extremes, there’s wisdom in the middle ground. This white isn’t cold and clinical, nor is it trying too hard to make a statement. It’s balanced, grounded, harmonious—qualities I’m craving right now.

And let’s be honest—it’s genius marketing. Everyone’s talking about it precisely because it’s unexpected. Controversy generates conversation, and Pantone knows exactly what they’re doing.

A warm white doesn’t dictate your style. It enhances whatever vision you bring. That’s not boring. That’s timeless.

You don’t have to paint your walls this color to appreciate what it represents.

“Puppy Love” captures that pure, innocent gaze that only our furry friends can give—the one that says “you’re my whole world.” Working with these turquoise and gold tones was such a joy, letting the brushstrokes stay loose and expressive to match that playful puppy energy.

This sweet pup reminds me why I love painting animals—they wear their hearts on their sleeves (or should I say, paws?). Every whisker, every highlight in those big brown eyes tells a story of unconditional love.

Shelter 🖤

Painting a parent bird sheltering the babies isn’t something I planned to paint, it just sort of happened. I saw a photo and it spoke to me. This piece started with those turquoise washes—I wanted that dreamy, protective feeling—and then these little ones just demanded to be tucked under those wings.

The texture work on the feathers was so satisfying, building up layers of black and white to get that speckled effect.

Studio looks like a tornado hit it, but that’s what happens when you’re prepping for a show! ✨ Packing up pieces, bubble wrapping everything in sight, and trying to remember where I put those other things…

Tomorrow’s the big day - we’re installing at the Fells Christmas Show and I cannot WAIT to see it all come together! There’s something magical about transforming chaos into a beautiful display.
