Chair Redoux I enjoy redoing older chairs: making them stable, replacing old components, and reupholstering them.

Christmas in Converse was good last evening, even though the weather was cold! Thanks to those who came out, and for the many encouraging comments about the things I had there. These pieces are still for sale, and are 10% off through the end of the month.

See how this chair went from this…

Christmas in Converse is this Thursday, December 5th, from 5-8PM. I’ll have a few things at the Historical Society (formerly the Methodist Church), if you’d like to check them out in person. There will be some other local craftspeople there, as well as several activities on Jefferson St, as businesses, and organizations will have activities for families. Santa will, of course, be there!

This was the first chair I purchased to redo, as an experiment at first, but I like it! It originally had a cane back, but it was damaged beyond repair, so I added a comfortable padded back. I chose to use a colorful print on the backside, and decided to make a pillow to go with it. I also highlighted some of the carving with gold so the details wouldn’t be lost.

This could be a great “head of the table” chair, or an extra chair for anywhere you’d like some color! $250, also to be listed on Facebook marketplace.

Here is the final combination table and chairs for sale! This table isn’t quite as old as the chairs are, I don’t think, but goes with the style. The sides drop down, so it can be made smaller when not in use.

The chairs were stabilized and the seats have been totally replaced with all new strapping, padding, and fabric. Chairs and table were cleaned and sanded before painting and staining.

This would be a great set for an eat-in kitchen or a breakfast nook! Or as a game table! $500 for the set

Can you believe these are the same chairs? When I saw these at an antique shop, i stopped to look at them, left to browse around, and came back to them again. I did that a few times, and finally decided that I had to save them! I didn’t have the skills to restore the seats, but I could give them a new padded seat and color, so that’s what I did.

I love them! When I stripped the red/pink (?) paint, they had been painted green originally, so that’s why I chose this fun green color.

I’m almost finished with a set of chairs and a table. I need to add a dust cover to the seats, but I took a few days off because of the heat. It looks like a couple days next week are more promising.
