Memorial Day is a day of remembrance.🇺🇸🪖❤️
My grandpa, Robert Lee Gunnels, was a WWII combat veteran and drill sergeant. He was one of many that fought hard for the freedoms we have today. He didn’t talk much about the war, but I was assigned a project in school to interview someone in the military he answered a few questions for me. He told me about taking cover in a foxhole and a gr***de being thrown in on them. He was in a hospital in France after that going through skin grafting surgeries. My grandma, Mary Ethel Gunnels carried and gave birth to my mom, Bobbie Nell, while he was away. He didn’t get to come home until she was 13 months old. BUT….. he was one of the lucky ones. He got to come home!!! Take a moment today to think about and pray for those who have a loved one that did not return. Think about how blessed we are that we have men and women that fight for and protect our country every day and pray for their safety.
