People ask me when this love for ceramics began…
And honestly, it started over 20 years ago in Peru.
That was the first time I discovered Chulucanas pottery and learned about the beautiful process of burning ceramics in black and white.
I was fascinated.
A few years later, I visited the Jonathan Adler factory and remember thinking:
there’s something magical about turning clay into pieces people actually live with every day.
Ever since then, I’ve had a crush on ceramics.
So much so that years later, I learned pottery myself.
Not because I wanted to become an artist…
but because working with clay made me slow down.
It made me feel grounded.
Connected.
Present.
And somewhere along the way, Pots & Patterns was born.
Now I design pieces for people who love gathering around a table as much as I do.
Pieces that are beautiful…
but also deeply functional for real life.

I used to think hosting was about impressing people.

I’ve realized something over the years…
Some people have a gift for making others feel instantly comfortable in their home.
Not because everything is perfect.
Not because the table looks like Pinterest.
But because people feel cared for there.
This weekend, my friend Mariana and her husband hosted dinner at their home, and I offered to bring an appetizer.
I made bacon-wrapped dates with blue cheese, and they disappeared almost immediately.
But what stayed with me wasn’t really the recipe.
It was the atmosphere.
The music in the background.
Everyone slowly relaxing into the night.
Wine glasses clinking.
People lingering around the table longer than expected.
Those moments always remind me that hosting isn’t really about impressing people.
It’s about creating a space where people feel good.
Where they feel welcome.
Comfortable.
Connected.
And honestly…
that’s one of my favorite things in the world.
Anyway, these dates were too good not to share, so here’s the recipe 👇
For 20 dates:
• 20 Medjool dates
• 10 bacon slices
• 4 oz crumbled blue cheese
• Black pepper
• Flaky sea salt
1 Bake bacon at 400°F for about 7 minutes until partially cooked but still flexible.
2 Slice dates open, remove pits, and stuff with blue cheese.
3 Cut bacon slices in half and wrap each date. Secure with toothpicks.
4 Remove grease and bake on a fresh sheet for about 5 minutes per side until crispy.
5 Finish with black pepper + flaky sea salt.
Serve warm and try not to eat them all before guests arrive 😂
