I'm now slowly going through the contents of the fabric shop that I purchased, which is a fun yet daunting task. I'm taking all of the fabric off of the cardboard bolts because they take up a lot of room and they're not really helpful at this point. The fabric is being washed, sanitized, preshrunk.....all that fun stuff. The real joy is finding little treasures along the way. Like the Shari Belafonte advertisement for this funky fabric. It was lovingly tucked between the cloth and cardboard. Oh Shari. I remember thinking that she was the absolute cat's pajamas when I was little. I loved how she always had short hair and looked so stylish. She made me want to buzz it all off. I will keep you all posted on what other sweet memories I find.

This! THIS! I can promise that the person who rents this spot will have a ton of customers. There's practically a built-in customer base with 23 full apartments and several businesses right under the same roof. And we're all HUNGRY!

It's business as usual this week. Remember, this Saturday is book club. Who's been reading? There's still time to start because the book is fairly short. Regardless, I hope to see you at some point very soon! It's been too quiet in the shop lately.

Are you in need of a last-minute Father's Day gift today? Well, we're open from 10 am to 4 pm and we've got you covered. We've got $2 to $3 books, some men's clothes, items for the wine lover, the cook, the tea lover...handmade cards, small things like keychains to slip into an envelope. Picture this: a handmade mug, some tea, maybe a tea strainer, a book, and an art card. That's a fantastic gift for pretty much anyone. Or a leather wine bottle opener for the wine afficionado. A charcuterie board or a teak end-grain cutting board for the cook. The possibilities are endless.

Here's the schedule for this week. We're plugging along, business as usual. This past weekend, I purchased the contents of a sewing shop in Morrisville, NY. These uhaul pictures are merely the tip of the iceberg. I wish that I thought to snap a photo BEFORE we unloaded most of it. (A huge thanks to my drummer, Pat, and Craig for helping me with this massive undertaking). Needless to say, I'll be adding A LOT of fabric and notions to the shop as time goes by and space permits. Currently, I'm organizing hundreds of patterns and spools of thread. Hopefully, all of that will be available for sale this weekend. I'm pretty excited. This will be a great addition to what Nancy at the Stitch Hub nextdoor offers. If you see a pattern that you like at the Whimsy, the Stitch Hub has weekly open sew times so you can work on your project there and benefit from Nancy's sage sewing wisdom. She also has super cute fabric to make your items with. Together...I think we might be able to fill that Joann Fabrics sized hole in your heart.

Welcome to the perils of owning a shop. These three monsters, by the incredibly talented Terry Pitzel, had to come home with me. She's threatening to make more, which will take all the restraint I have to not keep adding to my collection. I'm a serious fangirl of all the makers in the space...which can be a problem. Hah.

Hello, my fellow Whimsicals! Here are the upcoming shop hours for the week and a few photos to entice you into visiting us. The place is shaping up pretty nicely. We're still looking for a couple more vendors to fill up some shelves. Since space is limited, we're looking for different crafts from what we already feature. Currently, we have candles, pottery, thrifted clothing, bath & body products, and fine art covered. The consignment application can be found on the Whimsy's website.

This weekend was the grand opening of the Whimsy Mercantile in its new space. And what a unique space it is! Thanks to all of those who came out to support me and my extremely happy mom, who is now back in her element. It was all pretty amazing! To go from being contacted about a potential space at the beginning of April to deciding to rent it to getting movers to buying and assembling a lot of new displays to getting vendors moved in to then having a grand opening at the end of May...it was a whirlwind but I did it. I'm not sure how, but I persevered. Admittedly, I'm tired. However, seeing everyone enjoy the space so much and celebrating our local talent and creativity makes it all worthwhile. Love you all ❤️
