It’s been a very rough pregnancy. I developed ICP and had to deliver early at 37 weeks. I developed very high blood pressure and the recovery’s been rough. I’m grateful God knew of my future struggles and his timing (though I couldn’t see it then) I definitely understand it now… I needed this time off and this break to relax and prepare for this tough delivery/recovery… but he left me with the most precious gift, my last little angel… a little precious 6lb, full head of hair handsome baby boy 💙

Meet the Garlochs; Blake, Brooklyn, Layla, Brage, Brooks and Laisha (Smith). “Owning a small business just seemed natural after watching my Mother run her sign shop since the age of 5”. Laisha’s mother Karen Bannon is a successful sign shop owner in local New Albany, Indiana now for over 25 years. Her small business serves big name corporations like Ford Motor Company, Caterpillar and Good Year tires just to name a few. “I would walk to the shop from school everyday and hang out there til it was time for us to go home... I learned how to communicate with people... learned a lot from my time there. I’m thankful for those years, especially inheriting my moms patience. Now as an adult I catch myself saying things my Dad would say, joking with customers just like he always does... I definitely got my outgoing personality from him.”
Fast forward nearly 20 years, Smith opened her shop in small town Lanesville, Indiana, just 10 miles from her new location in Corydon. Her and her husband Brooks Garloch (a native of Corydon) have 4 children ranging from 2 years to 19 years old. “I’m always busy...there’s always something to do either at home or here at the shop...it definitely keeps me young”. Brooks is a private contractor in Harrison County where he builds custom homes. “We are so blessed to have both of our businesses here in Corydon now”. “Who knew how convenient living a half a mile away from you business could be”.
Olde Country Cupboard has three part time employees, two since 2014. “Tori, Carie and my dad have been here since we began and I definitely wouldn't be where I am today without my girls and my family”. Smith’s grandfather Bill works by her side every weekend at the shop. “He is actually my grandfather but I call him Dad because he raised me since birth and I am so thankful for that. He has been one of the most important influences in my life thus far.
“I just love my customers, meeting new people from all over, some who travel hours just to see my little shop. Talk about humbling. I am beyond thankful for all their loyalty and support since we started. Some customers have become like family and I am thankful for those relationships. We have done so much more business her in Coydon, I am truly a believer now in the saying “location, location, location”.
Smith’s 3500 sq ft shop full of Primitive handmade home decor and gifts is located at 416 N. Capitol Ave. in Historic Downtown Corydon, Indiana.They specialize in locally handmade home decor and gifts, carrying wood and upholstered furniture, Candleberry candles, 1803 Candles, swam creek candles, lines, signs, dolls, lighting, florals and much more. They do ship their items to customers inside the USA.
Olde Country Cupboard is open 6 days a week. Tuesday- Saturday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. They are closed on Mondays.
They now offer art classes upstiars of the shop. Craafting in the Country is a stress free art class is every other monday night at 6:30pm.
