Is it too early to break out the holiday quilts and blare the Glee Christmas albums? The unspoken rule used to be not before Thanksgiving, then it seemed to be Halloween, now I’m not sure there’s rules at all anymore…enter total seasonal boundary chaos (and holiday fatigue)!

Well, I’m a low-key rule-breaker anyway, and any reason for extending the spirit of generosity, cheer, and wonder this season tends to bring is good enough for me. Here’s to finding the everyday magic in these coming weeks—and may it last all-year long. ✨

“Wonder is the beginning of wisdom.”
—Socrates

We must be truly open and curious in order to better understand ourselves, each other, and the world. I really believe that quilting can be a beautiful art for this.

My hope with the 2026 Hand + Soul block of the month is to foster this curiosity for a year-long journey toward deeper meaning, peace, fulfillment, and connection. Each block is its own door to open for a new perspective for well-being and wisdom 🌿 You may even pick up some new sewing skills along the way!

Do you ever just want to make…anything other than a quilt?

Quilts can be quite a commitment, which is why I’m such a fan of sprinkling in some smaller projects—like quilted pillows.

I dug into my stash to make this scrappy, 8-color Arete pillow, and was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out! What do you think?

The Arete sister patterns release tomorrow! I have to show off this STUNNING quilt pieced by the incredible Chelsea - we’ve dubbed this quilt “Sunny Afternoon,” and it just radiates happiness.

It’s also giving off some retro vibes, do you agree? That may or may not have influenced the backing + quilting design choice (which totally has my heart) 🌼

More Arete quilt comin’ at ya!

I’m TOTALLY crushing on this version made by my crazy talented friend Meagan , which we’ve here dubbed as “Wild Blue” - there’s just something about this Hydrangea-Tender Green-Blossomed color combo, do you agree? And that marbled backing, with the star-like quilting motif…I mean, c’mon!

“The greatest thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving.” ― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

This quote has been on my mind while stitching the Arete quilt—a design inspired by the beveled points of a compass rose. Each seam feels like a step forward, a deliberate turn toward purpose. It’s a reminder that growth isn’t about perfection or a fixed destination, but about the courage to keep orienting ourselves toward what matters.

The Arete quilt patterns (both 4- and 8-color) will be available next week. And I’ll have a great bundle deal on the two 😉 Be sure to sign up for my newsletter to be the first to know about their release ✨

The Arete quilt is about celebrating the potential in each of us to contribute through our virtues and unique purpose & capabilities. For Aristotle, this is a key component of human flourishing (eudaimonia) 🌿

“In my dream, I was having a beer with Death and we talked about everything under the sun, and the thing that struck me most was how easily Death laughed and cried at the smallest of things. I remember thinking, this is one of the most alive people I’ve ever met. Because Death does not take this lightly, the running your fingers like a prayer over every bit of the world, saying quietly with every breath, thank you for this chance to love.”

Another beautiful day to be alive. May we seize it with love, hope & gratitude.

Who else needs some quilty optimism today? 🙋🏻‍♀️

You may already know how much I love experimenting with dark backgrounds in quilts, and it felt especially right for this design. I love how the bright stars jump out like little sparks against a night sky. So fitting for this quilt, inspired by the importance of seeing—or being—the light, even when we’re surrounded by darkness.

And don’t even get me started with the quilting on this one…just the perfect final touch! ✨

“Always keep your beautiful imagination and exquisite humor.”

I love this sentiment, encouraging us to lean into what makes us uniquely endearing. Often we can’t see in ourselves what is so meaningful to others, sometimes writing these things off as oddities or quirks we should hide from the world. Alas, they are what makes us individually beautiful, and collectively magical.
