“For me, Habitat for Humanity represents a true partnership between our neighbors and our community, where time, donations, blood, sweat and many tears are all used to build homes for families. Every ounce of building material is earned by the homeowners. Every stroke of paint is blessed by the volunteers. Every dollar of assistance comes with financial literacy. We get to watch and share with the families as they thrive before, during and after they move into their new homes. Yes there are sad tears, but there are so many more happy tears that flow.”

Vanessa is a graduate of Leadership St. Tammany (2023), the Most Okayest Class Ever! She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Leadership St. Tammany and the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce. Vanessa attends church with her family at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Mandeville and volunteers as coach of her daughter’s softball teams at Pelican Park.

✨Board Member Spotlight: Allison Looper Chalmers✨

We’re SO grateful to have Allison serving on the Brooke It Forward Foundation Board of Directors! 💛

Allison was raised in Mandeville, attended, and graduated from Fontainebleau High school in 2001. She went to Louisiana Tech University from 2001-2005 and graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Design in 2005 and was on the President’s List and the Dean’s List. Allison started working at Steinmetz & associates upon graduation until 2007, then accepted a position at Gensler where shebecame a licensed Interior Designer in the state of Louisiana and a professional member of IIDA (International Interior Design Association) and NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification). In 2009, Allison accepted a position at Blitch Knevel Architects, in 2021 became a Principal and on January 1 of 2023 she became a part Owner of Blitch Knevel Architects. In 2021 Allison received the New Orleans City Business “Excellence in Construction and Real Estate” award for Interior Design and in 2023 was selected as Sophisticated Woman, The Northshore’s Best, Interior Designer. Allison is a member of The St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce; volunteer for Habitat for Humanity Women’s Build; Volunteer at her children’s School; Coaches multiple soccer and softball teams at Coquille Parks and Recreation, and most recently, became a Board member of Brooke It Forward Foundation. Allison resides in Covington with her wonderful husband, Jason, and their two amazing daughters.

When asked why she chose to serve, Allison shared:

💭 “When my sister died, I wanted to do something in her name, and I struggled to figure out how. When I was introduced to BIFF, I immediately realized this is how I can do something for my sister. As a mother, sister, daughter and coach, I strive to help create a safe environment for all the children I interact with; BIFF represents this safety. I realize that being part of an organization that provides children with the happiness they deserve on their birthdays is an amazing gift that I wanted to be part of. BIFF helps many organizations with fabulous birthday boxes and I love being able to help the organization grow and be able to serve more children that are in need.”
