How on earth are we supposed to capture the grandeur of this installation in photographs and videos?! Hundreds of hydrangea lined the historic staircase at welcoming the wedding party and stunning guests.

Happy Derby Weekend! Congratulations Golden Tempo đŸŒčđŸŒčđŸŒč

We had so much fun doing this collaboration with and Ambiance for the YPO Rock Out Run for the Roses event! The 360° screens took our arrangements and installations right to Churchill Downs!

That horse you see in the middle of the room? He was life sized. We named him Mossy. Big shout out to for making him a reality!

Waterfalls of roses greeted guests and met them at the bar as well. Anyone wanna guess how many roses we used?

My social media accounts have received a lot of new attention after a recent event with my good friends over at Viva Bella Events! I'm so excited to meet all of these new followers and thought now might be a good time to reintroduce myself!

My name is Kristen, and I am the owner and lead designer here at Canary. I earned my BFA in Studio Art and an MFA in Art History. I have always been obsessed with flowers and using them to create the unexpected.

I have been working with florals for over 17 years and have had the absolute pleasure of serving the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area during that time.

I love turning florals into fine art by challenging myself to think outside of the box and designing the unexpected. It brings me so much joy knowing that my creative work leaves a lasting impression on the people who get to experience it.

I'm passionate about collaborating with other designers and event planners to take our clients' dreams and turn them into a reality.

If you have an upcoming event or wedding that needs a little magic, send me a message and let's create something beautiful together!

Something special happens when women work together and lift each other up.

What an absolute honor it was to create the floral arrangements for the Women 100 Gala this year 😍

Every detail was designed to show strength, beauty, and grace—the type of energy we need in the world today.

How to Choose a Floral Designer for a Fine Art Wedding: Experience and Logistics Are Non-Negotiable

This is where many couples underestimate the role of a floral designer versus a florist. A florist may be able to provide the exact stems you want and centerpieces that feel beautiful. But a floral designer will involve themselves far deeper in the process.

Florals affect timelines, floor plans, load-ins, weather contingencies, installation schedules, and strike logistics. A designer experienced in fine art events understands that beauty and ex*****on are inseparable.

You should look for a floral designer who:
—Has worked closely with planners and venues—bonus points if they’ve worked with your team before
—Can speak confidently about installation timing and site constraints
—Anticipates challenges before they arise
—Has systems in place for large-scale or complex designs

A stunning arrangement means little if it arrives late, blocks sightlines, or complicates the flow of the day. True luxury feels effortless because the work behind it is anything but.

At Canary we provide peace of mind knowing that florals will be the last thing you need to worry about on your big day.

How to Choose a Floral Designer for a Fine Art Wedding: Understand Their Design Process

High-end floral design is collaborative and layered. The best designers don’t begin with a stem list; they begin with questions.

A fine art florist should want to understand you, your vision, and your story. They will intentionally ask questions about your venue’s architecture and lighting. They want to know the narrative of your wedding, how guests will move through the space, and what moments deserve emphasis while others remain quiet.

If a designer’s process feels rushed, transactional, or overly templated, that’s often a sign they’re working at volume rather than depth. For fine art weddings, depth always matters more.

How to Choose a Floral Designer for a Fine Art Wedding: Look Beyond the Portfolio (But Don’t Skip It)

A strong portfolio is obviously important, but it should be your starting point, not your final decision.

When reviewing a floral designer’s work, ask yourself:

–Do their designs feel cohesive across different venues and seasons?
–Is there a clear point of view, not just trend-following?
–Do the arrangements feel integrated into the space, not dropped in?

Fine art floral design is less about recreating a single look and more about consistent design thinking. A designer who understands proportion, negative space, movement, and texture will be able to translate your vision into something custom—even if you’ve never seen that exact combination of elements before.

In the world of fine art weddings, florals are not a finishing touch. They are architectural, emotional, and logistical all at once. The right floral designer doesn’t just provide arrangements—they help shape how the day feels, flows, and is remembered.

If you’re planning a wedding with an emphasis on artistry, intentionality, and elevated design, choosing your floral designer requires more intention than just scrolling a gallery or matching a Pinterest board.

Over the next couple of weeks, we are going to be discussing what to look for, and what truly matters, when choosing a floral partner for your wedding.
