"How are you doing today?" is a reflex question, and it almost always gets a reflex answer: "Just looking!"

​Once a customer says they are just looking, a wall goes up, and it’s twice as hard to start a real conversation.

​Next time someone steps into your booth, let them browse for a split second, then point out a specific detail about whatever they are glancing at. Try something like:

​✨ "Hey there! Just so you know, that color palette is brand new for this season."

✨ "Hi! I actually just finished making those specific pieces in the studio this week."

​Give them a fun piece of trivia instead of a question. It breaks the ice, takes the pressure off, and opens the door for an actual connection.
