Pulpan Perspective designing spaces that you never want to leave.

We took a little square footage from this oversized front room to give the kitchen something it desperately needed — a proper pantry.

In the process, this room became smaller, more intimate, and honestly better for the way it’ll actually be lived in.

We didn’t make it bigger. We made it matter more.

More conversations. More gathering. More memories

People see the pretty rooms. They don’t always see the measuring, drawing, redrawing, sourcing, pricing, ordering, tracking, backorders, damaged deliveries, site meetings, change orders, electrical plans, millwork details, paint samples, stone slabs, grout colors, hardware placement, contractor calls, client calls, climbing scaffolding, moving furniture, steaming curtains, styling shelves, fixing the thing that was installed wrong, finding the thing that disappeared, and somehow making it all look effortless in the end.

Owning a design firm is a lot less “picking pretty things” than people think. 🙃

The furniture wasn’t the biggest change in this room. The architecture was.

We took a whitewashed brick with a wood beam mantel, floating shelves and a barn door and gave the entire space a new point of view — traditional millwork, a substantial mantel, layered lighting, warmer furnishings and details that make the room feel like it has always belonged to the house.

Sometimes the best decorating decision is to redesign the backdrop first.

SWIPE RIGHT FOR BEFORE

This wasn’t really a bar. It was a pass-through with cabinets.

By reworking the wall and borrowing a little space from the pantry, we were able to turn it into a true bar nook — and redesign the pantry to function better at the same time.

Sometimes the best part of a renovation isn’t what you add. It’s figuring out how the space should have worked all along.

Pretty is the finish. The floor plan is the design.

Morning coffee, weeknight dinners, lingering conversations… the kind of space where everyday life unfolds, with a daydream or two by the window.

One of my favorite changes in this space was transforming the old bar-height pass-through. It felt like an apartment window into the kitchen and never quite made sense in the room. We redesigned it into a true pass-through with cabinetry and storage on the back side, which instantly made the dining room feel intentional and architectural.

We also removed the shiplap that had been climbing the walls and refined the trim details, which immediately elevated the entire room. From there it was about layering—keeping their dining table, bringing in new neutral chairs, a beautiful focal point in the artwork, and cabinetry that grounds the space. What was once an awkward in-between area now feels polished, thoughtful, and completely integrated with the home.

This is the kind of room that makes people linger at the table.
