Many who have followed over the past year may know our home we thought was in sound condition when we bought it almost 4 years ago needed some pretty major work. Over the past 18 months we’ve had to replace a substantial beam spanning 45 feet on our patio, and while digging into that project, found that the shower in the kids bathroom was severely structurally compromised due to the water damage that caused the beam issue.
From then until now, we have replaced the beam, removed the shower addition, closed in the bathroom, gutted the bathroom and are now working on the renovation. Electrical issues, structural construction from original renovation needing to be fixed, plumbing and planning for upgrades and adding an outdoor kitchen have really slowed this project down. Today was a major milestone though. Water supply has been returned to the bathroom, electrical repairs and changes are complete and it’s time to start buttoning the room up getting ready for drywall and floors.
Some work is to be expected when buying a nearly 50 year old home but some of what we found has had even our contractor friends scratching their heads. Thankfully much we’ve been able to do on our own.
We can’t wait to show you the finished project in spring 2025.
