We create curated, emotionally resonant experiences through thoughtful design, collaboration, and a deep sense of place. ForrestPerkins supports a collaborative culture. Known for its inclusive, holistic approach to design, the firm encourages designers and architects to become well-rounded in their knowledge and facility with the other’s discipline. Instead of segregating the design process into
architects on one side and designers on the other or further segmenting design into FF&E selection and color and materials selection, our designers are multi-faceted. From the beginning of each project, we fully integrate designers and architects. In our firm, teams are led by a senior designer or an architect, with leadership designated based on experience and expertise, not by discipline. This approach begins at the top. Continuing education, achievement of advanced certification and professional licensing are important to maintaining the high level of expertise and professionalism for which the firm is known. In addition, firm members are encouraged to pursue areas of interest that will expand their own knowledge and to bring that knowledge back to the others in the firm through a program we call “Touchstone.” Individual team members or small groups create learning sessions that they share with others in the firm on such topics as LEED certification, graphics programs, codes and building information modeling (BIM) along with scores of other topics that enhance the firm’s ability to serve its clients. Our collaborative approach carries through all aspects of our firm. For example, rather than assigning a project strictly to one office, we often assemble teams for key projects across offices, allowing us to tap into specialized expertise to provide the highest level of project management, design, documentation and oversight. We can do this because we have developed design and communication methods and documentation software, standards and training programs that are consistent throughout our firm. Whether co-located or remote, our teams are fully integrated among interior designers, architects, specialists and administrators who have the talent and skill appropriate to the task and project and who take responsibility for the outcome and pride in the results. As do the hotel and resort operators with whom we work, at every step in the process ForrestPerkins pays attention to the details that differentiate a great project from one that is merely good.
