Notable Native Texans: Aaron Spelling, born in Dallas on April 22, 1923. Spelling was the son of Russian-Jewish immigrants, who lived in Dallas' old Jewish neighborhood south of downtown on Bryan Street.

After serving in the Army Air Force for World War 2, Spelling moved to Los Angeles and began television writing scripts. He become one of the most prolific producers in history, responsible for more than 500 episodes and 200 movies of the week. Charlie’s Angels, The Love Boat, Dynasty, Starsky & Hutch, and Beverly Hills, 90210. He called them “comfort television."

Spelling died on June 23, 2006, at age 83. Pictured below with the cast of Charlie's Angels, 2nd photo Dynasty.

This recipe for thick, tangy onion marmalade comes from Fort Worth chef Grady Spears. I made it and used it for burgers. (Blue Cheese Burger!) This glaze also adds a terrific taste to chicken.

Texas Cooking Chili of the Month: Grand Prize Chili.

This recipe is cooked in two steps: step one you cook down the ingredients floating the chiles. Step two is adding the tomato paste and spices to the concentrated mixture.
Once done, grab some Saltines! Reward yourself with a bowl of Grand Prize Chili!
