Friends, I am entrenched in my Audiobook Era. I like my books like I like my burritos, thick and spicy. I honestly cannot think of a better way to spend a day than stitching, crocheting, or sewing while reading an audiobook. The combination of analog crafts and storytelling is 👩‍🍳 💋. I’ll always share what I’m listening to, but we’ll both have to be cool with a lot of stuff quickly.

Couple of reminders, audiobooks are reading (🫶 .and.thread ), library apps like .app have a lot of free options and you can request your libraries add some, and if you’re wanting to buy, supports indie store instead of billionaires. ✌️

Every event there is one hoop that gets the most attention, this last weekend it was this one. Apparently many of us had a crush on this fox, because why was he soooo hot?! 🥵 It did go to a forever home paired with the perfect good girl hoop. 💚🩷

MARKET DAY!!! Thank you Cincinnati for always showing me such love. I love how many hoops found new homes and people who picked out kits for their new hyperfixation. 🫶

Anyone else out here ready to bite someone????

Also, anyone else sooooo excited for in Cincinnati tomorrow???? I’ll be there from 11-5. My booth is right at the beginning of the center aisle. Stop by and say hi and tell me about your favorite hot dog.

TW: pregnancy and adoption

Adoption is not the opposite of abortion.

I was alone. I was already a single mom. I was 21. I was profoundly poor. I was uninsured. I was uninformed. I was scared. I had no support. I grew up in a small town and I was not letting anything drag me back. I was neither selfish nor selfless. The two words that spring from people’s mouths when discussing birth mothers. I was just an average woman who couldn’t take on anymore.

Now comes the part no one talks about when waxing and waning poetically about the gift I gave another family. The feelings that come along for the ride.

Grief. So much grief it’s overwhelming. I went through 40 weeks with this baby and then they’re gone. P**f. I didn’t get a ceremony or to talk about it with friends and family or bereavement leave. Nope. I just went back to life and pretended nothing happened. “Hi I’m Angie and now I’m unpregnant.” Nevermind that I spent months working in a restaurant answering all the normal pregnancy questions, “oh is this your first?”, “do you have a name picked out,” “boy or a girl?”

Relief. It’s over. Finally I can get back to my fragile existence where I’m only a couple bad shifts away from eviction without also worrying that I might die and leave my 2 year-old son alone. Finally I can go visit my family again who had no idea I was pregnant.

Guilt. Guilt I chose adoption. Guilt that my baby was out there being raised by someone who wasn’t me. Guilt that I felt relief. Then the guilt would sling me back into grief and start the cycle again.

For years I would not have spoken so openly about this, but now I’ll have this conversation over and over. Adoption is a choice that should not be taken lightly. Adoption is a choice that comes with overwhelming consequences. Adoption is a choice that should come with more support for the birth mothers. Adoptions should always be a CHOICE and not a requirement. I love my daughter deeply and her and I have a great relationship, but that’s not always the case. I have no regrets, but still so many feelings.

Also, think about it. I’m like a Midwest 7.

So, a little about me. My name is Angie, I am a Dayton based fiber artist, craftivist, community builder, and love to run my mouth on the internet. I am passionate about community and host multiple events in Dayton for local makers. My favorite part of markets is making new friends with both shoppers and other vendors, so if you see me I’m probably chatting and just can’t wait to see all my Cincy friends!!!
