It’s been a crazy few weeks at the . I filmed this Q&A video when demo had just begun (and it’s now wrapped up). Like most renovations, there is all ways a mix of good news and bad, big surprises and not-so-surprising discoveries. Did any of this surprise you?? Also, a long form post-demo video (with even more surprises!) is coming soon. Thanks for watching!

What is the first step in my design process? This is what actually happens before I even begin to look for finishes. While I’m currently focused on handing off another client design, I’ve found a little bit of inspo for this project and sourced a few potential products on a private Pinterest board so far. (This video also briefly shows several of the kitchen iterations I’ve been trying on so far!)

Hot take: Not all finished square footage has the same perceived value. Sometimes square feet is wasted, undefined, simply not useful or poorly planned. Less can be more when it’s well defined and has an actual purpose. I plan to reduce the finished square footage in the basement here to make it more purposeful and place the finishes spaces where the natural light is prevalent—not in dark, windowless corners. 🫣

What made me choose to buy THIS house? Probably a desire to save it from grey vinyl for one. And also to sustain my crazy addiction of rehabbing homes with massive work scopes. Oh and it has a backyard pool that was filled in, and that specific feature seem to have a way of finding me over and over again. 🤣

Will I love it or list it? The most asked question so far is whether this house is a flip or not. Here is the honest answer! 🫣 Do you have a prediction?

Where is our located? (How many of you guessed it correctly?!) I’m answering your submitted questions in this short series. FYI: Amberley Village is full of mid century homes on sprawling lots, but this particular location is truly special. 1.7 acres (mostly woods) and walkable off a quiet neighborhood street with access to sidewalks that actually lead somewhere! Surrounded by trees, you can’t see a neighboring house yet you’re part of a neighborhood. A true🦄!

New project alert! Welcome to the , a midcentury modern ranch that was slated for demolition. 😭 While this home needs work, it is far from a tear down. It’s a dream. And it’s about to get the Revival Designs treatment! I cannot wait to take you along for what’s sure to be a wild ride. 👋🏻 I’m Nicole.

Somehow I turned my childhood love of floor plans and trespassing on construction sites into a career. 😝

When I was a college student studying architecture and interior design (yes, double major because apparently I enjoy suffering), I struggled deeply with the meaning of the work. At the time, design felt frivolous to me. Meaningless. What was the point of making pretty spaces when there were people out in the world who needed more tangible help?

So after three agonizing years, I walked away entirely and changed career paths, while holding onto design as a personal hobby through the years. Helping friends pick paint colors. Updating my homes. Obsessing over real estate listings for fun. Normal behavior.

After a 10-year career in wellness and eventually becoming a mom, I found my way back by flipping houses. And as it turns out…I was pretty good at it. More importantly, I loved it. (Didn’t I mention I loved suffering?)

Over time, life gave me a perspective I didn’t have when I was younger. I started to believe that creating beauty and comfort in everyday life actually matters. That homes shape people more than we often realize. And if you can make someone’s daily life feel calmer, more functional, and more joyful, then that isn’t frivolous at all.

I’ve now spent the last 15 years renovating, styling, and understanding homes in a way that’s given me a unique perspective: not just what looks good, but what actually works. The hidden tradeoffs. The costly mistakes. The small changes that actually improve daily life in ways people never expected.

The best feedback I get from clients is usually some version of: “You really listened.” or “We never would’ve thought of that.”

Honestly, that means everything to me. Because helping people create homes that function better for their real lives IS the point.

So this is just a small, rare hello and a genuine thank you—to everyone who has followed along the way, to the hundreds of clients who have trusted me with their homes, and everyone who has ever recommended me to someone they know.

You’ve made me feel like this work matters. And that truly means the world to me. 🥲

Throwback to the new construction townhomes I designed for a couple years ago. While it’s not a hard and fast rule, I always prefer when an ensuite bathroom relates visually to the attached bedroom like you see here in the color scheme. Fun fact: The feature wall in the bedroom is made with half dowels, which is hard to see in the photo but a special detail to notice in person. 😉
