Artist Patricia (Patty) Bean gave a pine needle basket class today at the DeFuniak Springs Art Co-op. Pine needle baskets are crafted from the needles of the long leaf pine trees. Theses baskets are highly durable and intricately woven, traditionally made by Indigenous peoples throughout North America, this meditative folk art remains incredibly popular for modern hobbyists and artisans alike. Future classes are offered and made available to register on the galleries website.

Alison Rilley is this year’s Walton County Art League Fairgrounds Featured Artist of the Year. Employed full-time at Glendale Nature Preserve she is a self taught artist who enjoys painting in her free time. Rilley has amassed a delightful collection of paintings of various subjects and mediums. She stopped by the gallery today to submit some of her works for the fairground exhibit.
