All the powers combined to make this space happen is worth taking a moment in the process to appreciate all those that have made this come together. When we’re so close to the finish line in our projects, I always reflect on what was and what will be. Hoodie hoo! Oh you want to know a little bit more about hoods? While I love a show stopping alcove hood range, it doesn’t always work for every kitchen or the architecture of the home. This kitchen called for a more simplistic approach with the bones of a mid century modern home. We wanted to have fun with color yet dial in on our vintage approach to design. We decided to have the hood blend in with the cabinetry and trim it out is unlaquered brass which we aged to achieve that lived-in look- aging the kitchen remodel is our signature move. Like it always belonged in this home. Simple statements can be the strongest. Hoodie on, folks.

Interior walls can feel like such a bold move. And to some extent- this is true because it not the norm. But here at The Dutch, we are not here to do the expected. Interior walls can be a practical decision as well as a timeless aesthetic selection. Our client wanted to have a designated small mudroom by the kitchen but didn’t want it to feel closed in. With their desire for old english and moody vibes- we replaced their existing wall with an interior window wall. 

Letting in more natural like, seperating the two spaces, aging the remodel in all the right ways, and a perfect layering piece to the kitchen design.  Im telling you- it made the kitchen come alive for their 1927 tudor. I’m just in love with it.

Oh my stars! How I do love interior windows and I just can't get enough of these beautiful inspo pics. I know it may be a hard thing to wrap your head around... interior windows?? Yes! It's a great way to apply an "open concept" feel with out taking down walls. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Walls are good people. Widing the entryway to space and add some side lights to each side. OR- make a whole wall full of interior windows. It never gets old and man does get some soul! Happy hump day!

There is something about capturing moments in design. And I truly believe the best designers understand this. It's not about just picking your cabinets, countertops, hardware... blah blah blah... I mean it is, but it's much more than this. 

I love this moment in our client's dining room with the sunlight streaming in illuminating the the golden accents on the banquette, the juxapostions of materials coming together and at the same time make it's own subtle statement.  A moment to sit and dream away.

Peeps, this not your typical nursary baby blue. There is a sense of richness, subtleness, and sophiscation. We are always looking for new ways to incorporate color and safe to say I can't get enough of this color. Just puts a smile on my face.
