The first impression starts at the front door. A sweeping staircase, sculptural lighting, an unexpected material moment. Each entry sets the tone for the home it welcomes guests into.

We’re revisiting a few of our favorite residential arrivals, each with its own sense of place and personality. Which one would you choose?

What happens when architecture, interiors, and a strong community identity come together?

Go inside the finished Lyric amenity center with KTI and DTJ Design as they share how the space evolved from concept to completion for Shea Homes.

From the bold café and glass-enclosed sales center to flexible gathering spaces and unexpected details throughout, every element was designed to reinforce Lyric’s identity while creating an inviting, highly functional destination for the community.

The result is playful, layered, and unapologetically bold, with architecture and interiors working together to bring Lyric to life.

A lyric is emotion set to music. At the Groove at Lyric, that idea becomes a place.

Designed for Shea Homes, the Lyric amenity experience translates the community’s musical identity into a bold, expressive destination for gathering and connection.

Circular motifs drawn from the community logo create a visual rhythm throughout, layered over a black-and-white foundation, warm woods, and energetic pops of primary color. From the café and glass-enclosed sales center to flexible event spaces and outdoor patios, each space carries the story forward in its own way.

Look closer and the details reveal even more: coffee-ring graphics stained into the concrete, a rotating Vestaboard, commissioned local artwork, QR codes connecting guests with artists, braille wallcovering spelling words of affirmation, and playful references to music woven throughout.

Bold, layered, and intentionally unexpected, Lyric is an amenity designed to feel as expressive as the community it serves.

Building on an already strong design foundation, our Hospitality Studio partnered with Shea Homes to thoughtfully refresh the Solstice Highline House, enhancing how residents gather, connect, and enjoy the space.

The update introduced a new bar and grab-and-go counter to better support food and beverage service, while flexible seating, vibrant tile, and layered finishes brought fresh energy, color, and functionality to the amenity.

By maximizing seating options and creating a more welcoming hospitality experience, this refresh ensures the space works as beautifully for everyday use as it does for community events.

A great example of how strategic, targeted updates can breathe new life into an already successful space.

Behind every beautiful design is a stack of considerations that truly define our projects’ success. Every project is deeply grounded in its brand identity and local narrative, creating timeless and durable spaces that support operational flows and leave lasting impressions on each guest. Great design supports ownership goals for years to come.

For Hilton Fort Wayne, our challenge was designing a stand out guestroom space that spoke to its sense of place, rooted in the brand’s image.

Our response: let the city do the talking. Fort Wayne’s identity is built on craftsmanship, culture, and exchange, a place where things are made to last. We translated that directly into material choices: layered natural textures, artisan-inspired details, a palette refined enough to stay relevant well past its install date.

Every selection was made, and protected, with durability and brand consistency in mind, so the design held its integrity through every shift in project scope.

The outcome is a guestroom that does double duty: a restorative retreat for the guest, and a durable, on-brand asset for the property. A calming space that doesn’t just look like Fort Wayne but that is built to hold up like it, too.
